The used book is in great condition, and just what I wanted for a special gift for my Granddaughter.

I was hoping for a book of lovely imaginary spells that would fit in right with the Harry Potter universe. Ultimately, this book felt to be quite the disappointment on that front, instead appearing as a relic of somebody trying to cash in on the popularity of the series. Throughout the book, there are references to the Whimsic Alley store (which I believe is closed for a revamp as of this writing), and the center insert is more of a catalog of items that can be purchased than anything else. A few common Wizarding terms have been changed, i.e. Muggle to Malingnot, in order to avoid any sort of litigation, which jars the reader right back into reality. (Amusingly, Whimsic Alley did wind up being sued by Warner Bros. Twice.)The spells themselves are hit-or-miss, having been submitted by fans in a contest. The quality and format varies, with a lack of consistency that would make Miranda Goshawk shudder. Some appear to go against existing Potter canon, which may or may not disappoint young fans depending on how imaginative they may be.To be honest, if you are looking for some spells for a young witch or wizard who has tired of Ms. Rowling's creations, I believe you would be much better off handing them an English-Latin dictionary than this book. I am not in the least bit surprised that it is out of print.

This was a wonderful Spell-book with many different spells, incantations, hexes and jinxes. I love using this book for fun and play. L.P. 10 years old.

When I first saw this book I was excited because I thought that this was a true spell book with actual spells and potions. But when I got it and read throughout it. I saw it was nothing but a joke. Don't get me wrong it is well written out. And if your buying this just to add to your collection of Harry potter it is a good buy but if your an actual witch looking for a book of shadow Then Don't Buy it!
