Perfect bowl to slow down fast eaters
The media could not be loaded. We have a 5-month old border collie who, from the day we got her, would eat her meal in no more than 5 seconds if we put it in a normal bowl. No chewing; just inhaling her food as fast as possible. So for the first couple months we had to feed her using a food dispensing bobble toy. This worked, but it was a pain to fill, it was noisy, and it left food crumbs all over the floor. Finally we decided to look for a slow feed bowl and came across this one. This bowl solved our problem! We poured in just under a cup of food (it could probably hold twice that amount), set it down, and it took her a total of 6 minutes from start to finish to eat her meal. The bowl stayed in place pretty well, although near the end of the meal she started pushing the bowl around a little trying to get to the last couple pieces. In total it probably moved 1-2 feet from its original spot. Now that she's fed from it regularly, she rarely pushes the bowl around and it still takes her 4-6 minutes to eat a meal. The bowl itself is a good size for most dogs, it's made of a sturdy material, and even the design and color are attractive. Overall, we are extremely happy with our purchase. It's a great price and is worth it! We'd definitely recommend it for other speed eaters.

Fabulous bowl for dogs familiar with puzzel toys, but may not work for all dogs
This bowl is fabulous. Got it for my daughter for Christmas. She can't feed her dog out of a regular bowl because the dog will bolt her food in less than a minute. But sometimes the dog gets tired of chasing kongs around the kitchen for every meal. This provides a nice alternative. It keeps her busy and makes her work, while allowing her to still sit quietly and eat, unlike the kongs. There are some disadvantages though. This will not stand up to heavy chewers left unsupervised. The dog can never be left alone with the bowl because she will destroy it as soon as she is done and there is no more food. This will also not be a good choice for dog with very large snouts or who cannot use their tongues to scoop the food out. My daughter's dog uses her giant tongue to scoop the kibble out. There is no way she can get her nose in there, but that's ok for us because it provides her more of a challenge.Dogs who aren't motivated enough to work hard to get the food out will hate it.My daughter's dog is already trained to eat out of puzzle toys. If your dog has never tried a puzzle toy before, it may take some coaxing. Even so, it took a little extra incentive the first few meals (treats hidden among the food) to encourage her to eat out of it. It is much smaller than it appears in the pictures though, so buyer beware.

We LOVE this feeding dish
We LOVE this feeding dish.It has done just what we wanted. Slowed his eating, so he is chewing his dry dog food. Which is rubbing some of his tartar build up and stimulating his gums. As his gums have been stimulated they are bleeding less and less during brushing. My first look was?? That's way too big. How will be get the food from those slots? Then after washing it. We tried it. Measuring out his 1/2 cup of dry food. The same as he had in a regular free for all dish. . And told him "Ok", he went right at it. And yes, it took, I'd say at lease 5 minutes to get every piece out.Where before he'd Wolf the food down, not even chewing much, in record time, less then a minute, maybe even 30 seconds.I gave it 1, less STAR because the 4, black, rubber, non-stop tabs are forever coming out? We are down ta two. And I'm wondering if I can get some replacements and the name of a glue that might secure them on better?Thank you,Debbie and Bernie, our 12 yrs. young cocker.

Best dog-goned bowl!
I never thought my dog was a fast eater because she didn't always finish her food. When I saw the description of this bowl, I realized she was eating very fast, feeling full, then coming back much later to gobble up the rest. Every so often she would vomit - not food or foreign substances, just that impossible to remove yellow stain. I ordered this bowl in March and she loves it. It is like a food game for her and she finishes her food. It is now 2 full months since I began using this bowl and she has never vomited. This bowl solved an indigestion problem I didn't realize she had. The bowl is very easy to clean and is suitable for small to medium size dogs. There are other choices for larger dogs. I was asked to comment on what I didn't like - no comment! I love it and so does my dog. I ordered another one for when we travel. When I opened the box, my dog was so excited. Who could ask for more?

Not sturdy enough, almost too tiny
This definitely slows your dog down, until they learn to flip it over! I almost felt cruel using this design, because the little nooks and crannies are suuuper tiny, I cant imagine a dog with a medium sized tongue even able to get in the smallest parts. My puppy was very frustrated at first, and I was becoming pleased with it, because it would take her 20 minutes to eat out of this thing as opposed to the 20 seconds it took before. It was not long before she learned to drag it, because the traction feet are not very "sticky". Eventually learned to flip it. Good solution to this, is that we are going to fill the backside/bottom with concrete to weight it.
