I have bought around 15 so far.
I have purchased 11 of these, and just ordered 4 more. Obviously they are for my business, and users are mechanics that use them around a maintenance shop and on boats around the water. They are used for diagnostic purposes. They work great, are a perfect size, good speed, and are my favorite toughbook yet-- best buy that hits the sweet spot between price and performance/durability.

Not worth the price.
We use ThinkPads and Toughbook in the field and these "tough" laptops aren't much more durable than a regular quality laptop. Certainly not enough to justify the premium in price.Be warned that Panasonic may not honor their 3 year warranty. I recently got stuck with 2 Toughbooks that are still within their 3 year warranty period (as shown by the Amazon invoice and the Windows Original Install Date) but Panasonic will not honor their 3 year warranty.

This is a good laptop for work
This is a good laptop for work. This is not the fastest computer and the screen is not the best but it is very durable. I have not had a laptop that was able to hold up to more than 3 years of heavy use on the shop floor I can tell this laptop will. I put in a SSD right when I got it and it is plenty fast.

Machine is great, unfortunately the setup is idiotic!
This machine is Fantastic, but unfortunately, the seller completely screws this thing up!So this machine is very fast and capable, and obviously tough, but the OS situation is absolutely unacceptable! As the listing indicates, the machine comes with windows 7 pro installed--a couple of things they don't bother mentioning, is that it is the 32 bit version of windows--so that 4 GB of ram you paid for? About 3.25 is usable! So, then you look at the bottom of the machine and the only sticker is a Windows 8 pro sticker!! So-- I buy a brand new machine, that has 4 GB of ram, and apparently came from the factory with (64 bit) Windows 8 pro!! WTF?!?After a bit of research I determine the seller must be using Microsofts "downgrade rights" that are included with 8pro, to downgrade and activate windows 7--ok, that's not so bad, except for the fact they don't bother telling the customer that they have NO WAY to actually re install windows if anything gets messed up! --NO recovery partition, NO recovery media, NO idea what windows 7 licence code to use if I did figure out a way to reinstall, and (as mentioned before) they put a version of windows on that is completely inappropriate for a machine that has 4 GB of ram.I am a computer tech, and this computer was for a customer, so I just ended up installing windows 8 (I have the disks) which activated just fine with the code saved in the BIOS of the computer. I also used the 64 bit version so all the memory could actually be used.Panasonic--Good on you!iSave --shame on you!

unstoppable toughness
I have been using toughbook computers for years and they always hold up. The CF-53 is a great conputer. I have had it for about 6 months and just ordered 2 more. Mine stays in a police car mounted on a computer stand. It holds up well to the extreme heat and harsh cold when parked. It is always ready to preform. I have the light up keyboard and it is very helpful at night. I love how durable it is. I never have to worry about something happening to it and it is still really fast even on a Verizon 4g air card. The 3 year warranty from toughbook offers great peace of mind. I still have some cf-19s that are about 10 years old and still work. If you want a computer that will hold up for a long time and can take whatever you throw at it pick a toughbook.

Good product.
Exceptionally sturdy laptop with respectable processing power in the 3rd gen i5 for an outstanding value! The reason I took away one star is that the tech support from Panasonic is sub-standard. Updating drivers is quite a chore. However, for the unbeatable value, it is difficult to complain about having to search for a few drivers.
