great gift and quite beautiful
I got this as a desk gift for my husband to put on his desk at the office. The falling sand is quite lovely and has a nice calming effect. The product was very well packaged and there were no problems with the condition it was received in. I thought this might be a frankly kinda lame gift, nice but unextraordinary, but my husband loves it and it is beautiful and well crafted. I like having it at home too, and the brown colors of the sand, mixed with a little glitter is beautiful coloring.

For the money the frame is pitiful
It’s quite beautiful to watch and makes for a very unique gift. I’m very disappointed in the brown framing and base though. It’s a color I’d say is Hershey bar milk chocolate and in the soft rubbery type of plastic they use it distracts and detracts from the look —instead of being a deep rich color it makes it look cheap. I wish I had gotten the black.

Love it! And the circle provides extra options
It's very nice, just as described - but I've found something I didn't expect - it's a ton of fun to adjust it, just a little, to tweak how the sand is falling. Unlike a normal square sand picture, you can tilt this one. So I tilt it a bit to get a proper bubble layout, then when it's moving too fast or too slow, I can tilt it to a new position. It's mesmerizing watching the way the sand moves as it falls, watching the bubbles try to close the gaps, looking at the finished product, making a new one.

Disappointed
I was rather disappointed with this product. It looks cheap when you see the real deal and the sand doesn't look anything like the picture or what I thought. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Especially not for the price.

Great product, I have 3 rectangular and 2 circular ones in total...
One of the most mesmerizing objects in my house that people cannot stop playing with. Getting the air ratio correct requires a syringe, which is provided. I only wish, and I'm serious about this.... that I could buy one of these that was about 4 feet wide and rectangular... even if it cost $500, I'd buy it... especially if it had a "swivel arm" so I could easily flip it over... add another $100 for a little solar powered or battery powered, or corded I suppose, motor that automatically flips this around every few hours would be *awesome*.

Good stuff
This thing rules. I keep it in my office and my coworkers (also geologists) love stopping by and checking out what cool pseudo-volcano/mass transport/progradational packages it comes up with. Shake it up for finer bubbles and different depositional rates/features. The advantage of this particular shape (as opposed to rectangular) is that you can rotate the frame during or after deposition and produce slump features or even pseduo-faults. 10/10 would buy again

Great gift
I bought this for my father for Christmas and he really liked it. We had one similar to this years ago and he was surprised to see it. I also bought the "midnight" sand picture and I do like it better than this one. There is more area for the sand to fall and create mountains and it is much better with a dark back ground than the see through glass. For the price I do recommend the rectangular Sand pictures over this round one.
