Eine platzsparende Verpackung für den Skiurlaub war meine Anforderung. Mit dem Sauger ist das Ergebnis super, aber die mitgelieferte Handpumpe bringt es leider gar nicht. Wenn man am Urlaubsort also keine Möglichkeit hat mit einem Staubsauger zu vakuumieren, könnte es sein, dass man Probleme hat sein ganzes Zeug auch wieder zurückzubekommen.

Recently I bought some "space saving" bags at a large retailer, which were pretty much ziplock bags impersonating space saver bags. I needed real space saving bags for a trip so I gambled on the original brand (at least, I think these are the original) and it totally paid off! The vacuum pump is actually smaller than it seems in the online pix here. It takes up so little space that it's not noticeable and the bags, when used properly, save so much room there's plenty of room for the tiny pump! In reading other reviews as to how these bags actually perform, I got some tips about how to utilize their effectiveness. It's true you can get pretty much every bit of air out of the bags which is great, except that when you "vacuum" to capacity, the bag is then much too stiff to pack into a suitcase efficiently. There would be a ton of wasted space when used that way. Picture packing a lot of actual rocks that have no wiggle room whatsoever... So I experimented until I got the right "vacuum effect" which allowed for easy packing without a lot of wasted space between packed bags! These bags held perfectly through a 16 trip out, and also the return trip we thought would never end - or about 28 hours! No leaks, tears or loss of air! I had one extra really large bag I wasn't taking on the trip so I put a winter comforter cover in it to see it would hold air long term (as it should). It's still holding strong, waiting for me to open when the weather turns cold. I can't imagine traveling without these amazing bags in the future - worth every cent!!!

I ranked 4 stars, but I always prefer to rank 5 if I can. I never assume the product I received is like the millions shipped. Sometimes things just aren't perfect. I have 10+ of these bags all over the house (Guest room, bathroom closet, garage, etc) and I love them! My issue is, they seem to be hit or miss. I will admit, maybe part of the zipping up could be user error, as 2 bags that were kicking butt now are taking on air (after I re-opened them). But I really have tried and tried to get those bags to zip back up. I did send one package back due to the bags continually taking on air. So I have had some problems with the bags, but I look at is like this. First of all "Space saving" to me isn't really the point. Tidiness is my point. Anyone that thinks vacuuming out a plastic bag is going to make everything fit tightly and squarely into your closet is relying too much on the pictures. That being said, not all things are created equal. But if you want to protect your belongings, even without being vacuum packed, where else would you find "ziplock" big enough for a comforter and a sheet set, or for 4 queen pillows. I am good with my purchase.
