Can you set this on a table instead of on the wheels?

Not really. The stand that comes with the cage is what allows the tray to be pulled out and cleaned/changed. If you set it on the table, the weight of the cage wouldn't allow for this, and may even damage the tray.

Is this the right spacing for a budgie? The one I have now is too big,about an inch or more

The spacing is only .4 inches. My Bee Bee Parrots are only a little bigger than a budgie and they can’t even come close to getting out. Very happy with this cage.

Is the 53" big enough for one dusky conure? they are about the same size as a sun conure.
