Warning! Don’t drink peppermint tea at bedtime! I am the wife of this account holder. This is what happened to me… I hadn’t had gastritis or esophagitis in over six years which I initially acquired after taking habanero capsules to do a cleanse, one of which got stuck in my throat. It was enough irritation to cause gastritis and then esophagitis which I suffered with for way over a year. I was initially given prescription meds like Sucralfate by my doctor which I discovered had aluminum in it but worked immediately to quell the gastritis pain which allowed me to eat. I then looked into Gaviscon, but that had aluminum, but the one in the UK does not so I ordered Gaviscon from the UK on eBay but then discovered the peppermint irritated the esophagus and relaxes the lower esophagus sphincter keeping it open while you sleep, which allows acid to go back up into the esophagus so I stopped using Gaviscon altogether. Because of the aluminum in the Sucralfate and US Gavescon, I did a water detox with Fiji water for six weeks. During this time I did more research looking for an alternative to antacid H2blockers and PPI’s which you’re not supposed to use long-term bc it has side effects and discovered AcidRelief which, in their description, which is what sold me, helps protect and heal the esophagus. I also added in over this time DGL, Slippery Elm, Zinc Carnosine which repairs the intestinal lining and also the throat, Pur fruit chewing gum w xylitol to keep the throat lubricated and keep acid away, and AcidSoothe which gives immediate pain relief in the esophagus. I also changed to an alkaline diet (charts can be found online) and slept upright using several pillows. Not comfy but it keeps acid out of the throat while you’re sleeping so it can heal. Now, five years later, after eating and drinking whatever I wanted, I have succumbed yet again to esophagitis (but NOT gastritis bc it was only peppermint tea that I drank before bed so thank God!). So I immediately got my husband to go to the supermarket to get Tums and Pepcid AC which did help a little bit. I then ordered all the above items I just mentioned and within a week the pain started to subside in my throat. I’m still halfway there and will update this review when I’m healed. Please see my update regarding my current issue at the bottom of this review which was my first one for AcidRelief. In the meantime, here’s my original review initially for AcidRelief so you can get an idea of what exactly happened and how I healed, totally from gastritis and esophagitis. I hope this helps everybody out there that’s suffering. The body does heal overtime if you do the right things. Have had esophagitis due to overuse of a habenero supplement for cleansing. (One pill got stuck in my throat and burned my esophagus!) I've tried antacids, Sucralfate (which helped heal my gastritis and finally allowed me to eat without pain) DGL, Zinc Carnosine, slippery elm, aloe vera juice/capsules, baking soda, chewing Juicy Fruit gum, Esophageal Guardian all of which have helped to heal. However, I noticed immediate release of my throat and chest symptoms after my first capsule of Acid Relief. What caught my eye was the product description of how it helps heal the esophagus which is something I noticed other products didn't mention. Now I know the mind has a lot to do with how well we heal and I thought my symptoms disappearing was just my wishful thinking. But after a week of using these capsules one after each bowl of cereal and almond milk fruit smoothie in mornings and vegetarian meal afternoon and at night, I noticed absolutely no discomfort whatsoever. There are also no side effects with this product. I still take DGL after my meals to coat the esophagus which also helps. After a week I'm still having discomfort in the mornings but during the day absolutely no symptoms at all. I will start taking it at night before bed and see if there's any difference as I know acid rises up when you're laying down so I will keep propped up on my pillows and keep sleeping on my left side to keep acid down. I believe this product is helping me to heal and although it's expensive I'll keep taking it until I'm back to normal. 19 days in and I'm now pretty much back to normal and sleeping on my left side which is recommended by health advocates because your elimination organs are on your left side. I also used Acid Soothe at night because it's a chewable tablet that coats the throat and keeps acid down. I'd tried Esophageal Guardian at night but felt it was less effective. One had to be sitting upright for it to work as it floats on top of the stomach contents to keep acid from coming up into the esophagus. I also used Zinc Carnosine (which doesn't have aluminum like Sucralfate and is only available from your doctor) in the morning and at bedtime which can either be opened and the powder mixed in your mouth with water to coat the esophagus or the capsule can be swallowed. DGL was also used when I felt discomfort. It took me over a year to heal this problem because I didn't want to use commercial antacids but once I started taking Acid Relief 3 x a day after meals and eating mostly alkaline foods the healing was obvious. Keeping the acid down is THE only way to heal. I'm staying on my regimen and ordering more bottles until I'm totally healed and will update my progress here. I highly, highly recommend this product!!® Update: Two months on the product and eating normally even drinking beer occasionally with no discomfort. Still taking the product. I will update when I am no longer using it. Update May 2019: I read that lectins found in grains, eating dairy and alcohol cause inflammation in the body so I completely eliminated them from my diet. I kept on using this product and added their Turmeric Curcumin capsules (2x a day) to keep down inflammation as that's what keeps the body from healing. I also used ACV caps, aloe vera caps, DGL chews, Zinc Carnosine, slippery elm caps and lozenges and xylitol chewing gum to keep my throat lubricated. Within two weeks of giving up grains my esophagus was pretty much healed. I kept on the regimen until I discovered I wasn't running to the cupboard anymore to take my supplements because I had no discomfort. I believe this product, along with their Turmeric Curcumin and the stopping of eating grains (which by the way is called a Paleo diet) were the main reasons why I was able to finally fully heal. I have absolutely no discomfort after eating at all now. The body does truly heal itself if given a chance. I highly recommend Bodymune's and AcidSoothe’s products as they're organic and have no side effects. The Turmeric supplement does not burn your stomach either. Hope this info helps someone who was as desperate as I was to find a solution to healing, Good health to you! Update: August 2019 Totally back to normal. Can now eat/drink wine, beer, curry, vinegar, dairy and butter and grains but rarely indulge in any of these items because I just feel better all round health-wise when don't. I may indulge in a little of the above when I go out to eat but that's it. I never had a reflux problem so I don't need the product at all now. Follow my lead and you will heal. And always remember to thank the Higher Power that is bringing you healing. Update: My peppermint tea drinking issue started on Sat Dec 6, 2025. As of today, December 17, 2025 my throat discomfort has almost completely gone. I’m still opening up the zinc carnosine capsules in the morning and evening before I eat and chewing gum immediately after I take any of the above herbal remedies, which keeps my throat lubricated. The main take away with this is - if you are feeling any pain, you are not healing. You must keep the throat lubricated and coated with DGL, slippery elm, and or Acid Soothe chewable tablets. Sleeping upright is also important. I slept one night on my side and the next day I felt more discomfort in my chest and throat. Sleep upright until you have almost no more symptoms. If the pain is too much get hold of a bottle of sprayable Chloraseptic, which you can spray into your throat to relieve pain. And keep chewing the PUR gum and stay on your alkaline diet as much as possible. Oatmeal and bananas help coat the stomach and throat even though it is a grain, it still helps bc they are mucilaginous. Eating as often as possible is also important to keep the acid down. Once I am totally out of the woods, I will come back here and update.

I've suffered from acid reflux for years. Tried so many different options. Betaine HCI and/or Apple Cider Vinegar which did work for me for some time. But whenever I laid down to sleep I would wake up in the middle of the night having the apple cider vinegar taste and/or acid burning my throat. Don't get me wrong Betaine HCI and/or Apple Cider vinegar do work for some types of acid reflux. I've tried to not go the prescription route. It seems all of those prescription and OTC solutions remove acid from your stomach. You don't want to remove acid. In many people acid reflux is actually low stomach acid. Your throat valve opens up when there is a low acid state. A sort of warning to the body. Adding Betaine HCI should fix most normal acid reflux. Also downing a shot of apple cider vinegar (the mother type) like Motts. But these two only served to help me for awhile. Well I tried "Acid Relief by BodyMune" , I take one pill after every meal. FINALLY I can sleep through the night without waking up with a mouthful of acid , having to jump out of bed and swallow the lava and get a drink of water to soothe the now irritated throat. I was gonna give up and just go the prescription route. But I know that reducing acid in your stomach is bad. You need acid in your stomach. So I tried "AcidRelief" by BodyMune and it works for me. Can't say why, it just does. It's important to take one after a meal or when you start getting a burning sensation. I take about 3 a day after every meal. I'm taking a break from Betaine HCI and apple cider vinegar for now. I feel like the AcidRelief is giving me time for my throat to heal from the onslaught of acid splashing it over the years. So it's important to figure out what type of reflux you have. It's the first product I could actually sleep through the night and not get a burning sensation at all. It's almost a miracle in a bottle for me at this point. I was ready to give up the fight and just get prescription acid blockers , which would kill the acid in my stomach. Which is a bad thing in my opinion in the long run. You want acid in the stomach. Believe it or not acid reflux for some may be too low stomach acid. I hope they never stop making this stuff , it works for me. I hope it does you too.

It is ok if I take 2 pills at a time. otherwise taking the does suggested 1 pill does not work for me

So far it hasn't done anything to alleviate my acid reflux issues. I find that mine are worse either when I'm stressed or when I'm rolling over onto my side in bed at night. I try to sleep propped up but eventually I have a hard time sleeping that way for the entire night and roll over onto my side and scoot down under the blankets. I wind up having to suck on antacid tablets as I fall asleep and sometimes wake up with it still not totally disolved. I had hoped this would make it so I didn't have to do this any longer but so far no luck.

causes diarrhea. i still wake up with morning with acid burns on my esophagus. This stuff probably is not worth it. I'm tryin to stick with it because I really really need healing. But i don't think i'm gonna stick with this. I'll try for a week or so longer and see if things get better. I been on it less than a week.

I have GERD and for years I took Omeprazole. After finding out those pills should not be taken for more than 2 weeks; I decided to stop taking them. Omeprazole completely stops all stomach acid. ( I went in for an endoscopy and was not supposed to eat or drink after midnight. When I came out of the anesthesia the doctor queried about the last time I ate; as she said the salad looked like I had just eaten it - even though I hadn't eaten in over 24 hours.) That left me looking for natural alternatives and after research I found these supplements. I am very happy with the difference. I can take these as needed and I don't have to worry about my food digesting. Highly recommended.
