Tripod being an absolute must for a spotter to be usable at all! Cant be overstated as I learned this the hard way trying a cheap tripod that couldn't hold it steady enough to use without extreme frustration! Buy once cry once if your not seriously researching and purchasing a decent product in tripod land you WILL BE FRUSTRATED AND REPURCHASING so do some work ask a professional camera store or straight to the $200 vortex pods! I ended up in a vanguard alta 2,saved some dough and became happy owning this amazing spotter with tripod! Cambodian tripods that are bundled with the argos are only made to anger users
