A 40" smart TV with an outstanding picture for a few dollars over a hundred? YES! Buy it now
I am so glad I decided to take a chance on this 40" TV... I had a 65" older Samsung that I had mounted on a wall under my patio cover in the backyard for the last 2 years. Living in California means I can enjoy the outdoors at least 10 months out of the year. Well this last winter I think the heavy rains caused enough moisture to kill my Samsung... So instead of investing another $700 or so bucks on another 65" I decided to downsize to a smart TV that cost ONE HUNDRED AND NINE dollars!!! Are you kidding me? I could buy one of these every year if they die out in the weather and never be mad about it... Here the best thing about it... It has Firestick built in to the TV... that's another $40 value right there... I hooked it up to my existing wall mount and in 10 minutes I was watching TV and installing all my favorite apps in a flash... and the picture is outstanding... Absolutely no complaints with that. What I didn't like was the onboard speaker. Not good at all. Typical tinny sound that just sounds horrible... I had a soundbar on my 65" but I decided not to hook that up to this 40"... Instead I used my portable JBL bluetooth speaker and hooked that up to this TV... Now whenever I go outside to watch TV (usually sports) I just turn my bluetooth speaker on which automatically disconnects the onboard speakers and it sounds a million times better. Could not be easier. And now I have the perfect setup again. Do I wish it was a larger screen? Of course, don't ask such a dumb question. But am I happy with this TV knowing that it works and looks great and is essentially disposable. That sounds horribly materialistic, but it's true. Maybe in a year or two when this one needs replacing, the 55" will be the new $100 standard and I can upgrade then. We'll see... If you are hesitating at all about this TV, don't. The price is almost too good for what you get!!!

Two TVs delivered - both defective!!!
Two TVs delivered - both defective!!! Be warned. First, don't purchase from a Third-Party Seller. Mine was Best Buy. They will not replace/refund outside of a 30 day window. These were Christmas presents ordered on November 27, 2026, so our 30 days was up before we even plugged them in for the first time. Both of the TVs began demonstrating defects within two weeks of using them. On one, it will occasionally stop producing sound and it requires a hard reset (power off doesn't work - you have to navigate through the system menu and tell the TV to do a hard reset) before the audio will work again. The other is worse. It will randomly stop playing video (screen goes to full block static) and it will blare a loud pulsing tone at full volume through the speakers. The only way to make the sound stop is to jump up, run over to the TV and unplug it from the wall. It's going to give me a heart attack eventually. This started as something that happened every two or three days, but it has happened for the last 5 days in a row. Neither TV is used frequently. These problems manifest after only 30 minutes or so of use. I have performed factory resets on both TVs, but the problems persist. Both TVs are defective. Given that these were purchased as Christmas presents, they were not immediately put into use, therefore we were unable to discover the issues right away. When we did discover the issues, I took a few days to try to solve the problem on my end by experimenting with factory resets and settings changes. Once I completed the troubleshooting steps and initiated return/replacement options on Amazon, I learned that this was actually sold by a third-party seller (Best Buy) while I had been under the impression that I had purchased this "Amazon Fire TV" from the Amazon website from Amazon. Best Buy apparently only provides a 30 day return/refund window according to its customer service department, so they told me to take this up with the manufacturer Insignia. I shop at Amazon because of convenience and because I've seen how well they handle returns. Had I realized that I was purchasing from a third-party seller, I likely would have purchased something else. It's likely that Best Buy sold thousands of these defective TVs (I can't be so unlucky that I got the only two bad ones). Best Buy sold these prior to Christmas, likely knowing good and well that most people wouldn't even plug them in for the first time until the 30-day service window had already passed. What a great deal for Best Buy. It sold a defective product with Amazon branding through Amazon's website to Amazon's customers, and it takes no responsibility for the defect. Once I exhausted my options through Best Buy, Amazon said that they will try to resolve this with their "A to Z Guarantee." I'll update this review if anything changes. Regardless, DO NOT BUY THIS TV!

It’s a keeper
First, i’ve purchased a 24 inch and a 32 inch using the 24 inch in my room. Secondly,I was on the verge of asking for a refund due to the antenna problem, I had to use one from my travel TV, I was unaware that they required an antenna to get my local channels. Third, it kept cutting off until I Googled it and found that other people were having very similar issues with this particular TV being that would be required for me to do an update which took several attempts, but finally worked. Very clear TV screen nice travel TV to take with me on the road

Good TV with Alexa feature
I love this TV! For the price, it's a great size. I LOVE that I can just push one button, tell it something like "Play (The Big Bang Theory) on HBO MAX" and boom, my show is on and playing! Excellent remote feature! Very easy to set up, but I do wish the cord were longer. The color and picture quality has been weird at points... I have had to switch from normal to movie quality a couple of times to resolve the issue.

Great TV for the bedroom!
I bought this for my bedroom and it’s been the perfect fit. The 40-inch size is just right for a smaller space, and having the Fire TV software built-in means I don't have to deal with extra boxes or messy cables. The picture is crisp and the Alexa voice remote is actually really handy for finding shows when I'm already tucked in for the night. Setup took maybe ten minutes total. If you need a solid, reliable TV for a bedroom or guest room without spending a fortune, this is a great choice.
