It measures
It's a good tape measure. Now every time I take it out and my wife asks, "what are you doing?" I can say, "I'm trying to see how long I've been here."

The most versatile tape I have ever used.
Found this exact model about 4 years ago and have not changed since. Plumbing superintendent and I issue these tapes out to all of my guys. Standout is well over 10 feet in the field and the large hook allows you to grab over or under with ease. I buy several at a time because I am scared they will discontinue this model. Also we are very hard on tape measures out in the field but this has proven itself time and time again to outlast others we have tried. Excellent product.

It’s worth the extra money
I bought one and love it. If anything, the spring is to strong and smashes my finger. Youre suposed to not let tapes recoil at full speed anyways because they will stretch. I bought it in January (?) using it daily for concrete form work with no down time and its still working like a champ. No one abuses a tape like a carpenter doing form work out in all types of weather conditions and have dropped it off of 30’ walls more than once onto concrete footings. And they call us dirt carpenters because our bags are always filling up with dirt from the cheap ass site guys not digging the hole wide enough and still no problems one small tear that is Insignificant, all the markings are still visable. It works better than the original Fat Maxs did when they first came out and werent POS. It doesn’t have “tape flop”. When you’re measuring over your head, left to Right against a wall and the last foot of your tape flops. And if i do have a problem, i bring it back and get a new one. I also like that the lock has two settings. Either lock it tight or “snug it” where you can still move it but it wont recoil. ***TEN MONTHS OF EVERYDAY OT WORK***

Great Tape Measure
This is a fantastic tape measure! Sturdy and well built with plenty of the length! Pro's: Durable case Good length with thick tape Easy to read numbers Good Break Distance Con's: Heavy weight / too heavy on belt

Not for plumbers
Breaks my heart to give 3 stars to dewalt (my fav), but this tape has lots of issues. The spring is so strong it hurts a lot when you release it. The advertise length one could go out is not at all a usable length since if you get it that far it will look like a lightweight fishing rod with a 30lb salmon on it. I bought this because I really wanted the top grab for the hook. The end is HUGE! For many things a plumber needs it simply won't fit. That isn't something I deducted stars for though. It would be a great framer tape but another flaw is the clip that hooks over your pocket. If that's how you carry a tape then be careful because there's nothing that grabs and there isn't any tension. If you're working above others (as framer, that's almost always) you will be dropping this and it's heavy. If I see anyone with this tape and they're working above me, I will stand clear, tyvm.

Best tape measure I've ever owned
I love this tape measure. I am a pipefitter, and use this tape measure daily. The clip has never ever even bent. It actually goes out 13'. The top,and bottom hook at the end allows for ease of hooking on anything needed. It retracts very easily even at 20+ feet. I've used it for a month and it's still as the day I bought it. I highly recommend this tape to any tradesmen.

This thing sucks!
Don’t waste your money on this like it did. I spent the extra money thinking I would get a quality tool made in USA. Right out of the box the thing doesn’t want to retract all the way, I have to feed it back in after each use, my 20 year old Stanley works better. Also not as sturdy as expected and the belt clip doesn’t hold well, slips off too easy. If you’re looking for a quality tape measure, don’t buy this one.

35 year carpenter says meh....... UPDATE
UPDATE: After using this tape exclusively for a couple weeks I have to say I have gotten used to it. Old habits die hard. I really like it. I find myself reaching for the DeWalt rather than my old standby. It's still heavy, it's still cupped but it's still better than the rest and definitely worth the money. The outside silver plate is plastic and not metallic as I had thought in my initial opinion. The bad first, It's heavy, like pull your pants down heavy. Don't think you're going to clip it on your belt and be comfortable because you won't be. If you wear a tool belt and throw it in the pocket or use a tape clip it's perfect. The tape itself is really cupped out and you have to roll it to the side to get an accurate 16th or an 8th mark. At 2' there's a good 1/4" stuck up in the air on the end of the tape which makes it difficult to get really precise marks without holding it down. You can't really pull it right and do it because the hook doesn't bite. The good, it has a crazy long reach more than 10' easily. The tape is easy to read and it has no slack in the hook. It's built like a tank, the clip is really beefy and feels solid when you put it on. The spring is pretty fast and not to hard to extend. The lock is tight and holds firm while moving around with the tape extended. The case is thick and tough with a metal (aluminum?) Cover. All in all it's a great tape measure for framing or other jobs where you don't have to be fast and accurate at the same time but I'm a trim carpenter and it not best suited for that job. It does do the job but slows me down a little bit. It's probably better than most out there but it's expensive. Time will tell how it holds up and I hope I got what I paid for.

Any tape will wear out and break if you get sand and/or concrete dust inside and don't wipe the blade. This tape is a little step up from a fatmax because it has the same robustness of a fatmax, but better exterior quality and a better end piece for hooking on things.
