Q: Will i be able to remove the threaded insert?

Not without damaging the knob. The knob is molded onto the insert from the factory. My advice would be to either re-thread your shifter to match the insert threading OR find the appropriate adaptor at your local hardware store or Lowe's. Hope this helps :)
