Holy Moly, I Can Hardly Believe It
Ok, I basically never leave reviews, because I just don't have the time. But knowing how much I rely on others' reviews to help me find things that work, I feel it my duty to share. I bought this a month ago for my 3- and 4-year-old kids, especially. We live in DC (which is a swampy, humid, mosquito-breeding steamroom in the summer), and the mosquitoes are just awful and relentless. My kids love to play outside, both at their daycare and at home, but they've just been getting eaten alive, and my daughter gets really bad reaction and swelling when she gets bitten. It's been so bad that, prior to using Murphy's Repellant, they'd only stay in the yard a couple minutes before coming inside, covered in painful mosquito bites. I'd been using a different repellant (Sallye Ander No-Bite-Me Bug Repellent Cream - 2 oz, Natural, Safe for Kids & Infants, Anti-Itch, Moisturizing, Lemongrass & Mint Scent), which smelled pretty good but was sadly not very effective. Back to the drawing board, I did more research and found Murphy's. The reviews seemed promising, but honestly, I've tried so many non-DEET repellants over the years and none of them have worked very well and are always a disappointment. So I didn't have high hopes for this one. Well, my kids' skin doesn't lie! This stuff has worked shockingly well! We apply it in the morning around 8 am before heading to their daycare (they spend a lot of time outdoors there at the on-site playgrounds). It is effective up through pick up, which is around 4:30/5pm. Then if they want to play outside when we get home, we do have to reapply one time, but that will last them the rest of the evening. It's like...night and day. When my daughter has it on, she plays happily outside. When she doesn't, if she plays outside anyway, she comes in crying in 5 minutes from 5-10 painful mosquito bites. My son doesn't get so upset by bites, but I can see them on his skin when he gets them, and since we started using this, he very rarely has bites on him. Here's a quick pro/con list. PRO: -WORKS (at least for us) -Effective even in humid, mosquito-swarming environments -Easy to apply, and after several minutes, it soaks in completely and leaves no greasy or unpleasant residue CONS: -the smell is rather strong when applying and for about 10 minutes after application (but it does dissipate) -it's a bit pricey (but worth it, since it works!) I hope this review is helpful to other folks looking for EFFECTIVE, non-DEET, non-greasy mosquito repellant!

Just buy it!! Works wonders.
Love love love! I like how its all natural. Great for me and my kids. Its not greasy, it does soak in after a few minutes. It is a strong smell which is the eucalyptus smell. But I like that smell so if you dont, go with something else. I sit outside daily for hours and the mosquitos were AWFULLL!! They always swarm me. I remembered my mother bought some and worked great so I figured Id try. I bought it and used immediately (we are outside ppl as much as we can be). It worked so good..no more bites. Definitely recommend for anyone.

Great for saltwater fishing trips.
I like it. Bugs... not so much. I put this on, when I go fishing. It seems to help with those annoying black flies out on the ocean. I don't spray it on my skin, but my shoes, clothes, etc. I don't want chemicals on me, no matter what any company says. The scent is fairly powerful at first, but winds down as the day wears on. Reapply when you barely smell it, because bugs will barely smell it too.

Actually works and no nasty chemicals
So we now have both indigenous and imported mosquitos in much of the lower USA. The so called Asian mosquitos are commonly called ankle biters for obvious reasons. They are active in the day and at night the native ones take over which means 24/7 biting. I have found out I'm sensitive to the ankle biters so a simple bite can swell up into a quarter sized itching annoyance. Not good. Trying to stay away from extra chemicals so out of desperation I tried this product. You spray it on your skin b/f exiting the house and supposedly it keeps the biters away. Well much to my surprise, it does! I spay on exposed skin, a lite spurtz over clothes and even one above my head so the scent is in hair area (be sure to keep eyes closed and do NOT breathe in the spray!). I don't think this would work if you were swimming but I use this b/f going outside to garden or do other outdoor activities and it really works. Lasts for me appx 5-6 hours unless it's really hot and I'm sweating like a horse in which case only lasts appx 3 hours but I'm usually showering a/f heavy nasty humid outdoor activity anyways, so no problem. The only caveat I'd warn people about is if you (like an ankle biter) hate the smell of eucalyptus and/or lemon. This product is basically a spray of those essential oils and it is very scented. Personally I love the smell but some people might not. Last summer I only had a few bites and they were on areas where I had been wearing thin clothing. This year my practice, like I mentioned, is a light spirtz over clothed areas and no bites yet. So I'm definitely happy with the product and have a bottle indoors and outdoors!

Save yourself from wee beasties that bite!
We have seven ponds, therefore we have mosquitos. Those little black devils try to eat us alive when we go outside. We also have ticks. One day while clearing brush, I picked over 120 tiny ticks off my legs. My dad got Lyme disease and it nearly killed him. Then I got this repellent. It's Murphy's, so you know it's good stuff. Since we got it, I have not been bitten by a single mosquito and have not gotten any ticks at all. It doesn't stink like so many repellents. It's not like an aerosol, where it sprays a big mist everywhere and you breathe it. It goes where you point it. And it works. Our doctor, who also lives in the country, recommended this, and we are so thankful that we tried it. We also got the stick form, which fits easily in a pocket. It works, too. I highly recommend this wonderful product.

Buy it and Try it! It works!
Initially, I bought this for a friend who reacts extremely badly to mosquito bites. Where we live, there are a *lot* of mosquitoes, ticks, and biting flies in the warmer months. Before, we just always covered ourselves in a 30-40% deet spray. (The tick-borne illnesses in our region especially make this a necessity.) Even with the deet though, it is unpleasant to go outside in summer because the deet spray doesn't really seem to deter the biting flies which just zoom around and around us in threatening circles. My friend, though, is a mosquito magnet, and gets numerous bites every time they go outside in the warmer months. When they get bitten by mosquitoes, the bites often become huge welts, which become infected, and can take weeks to heal. This spray has been a game changer. Neither one of us has been bitten by anything since we started using this spray, and mosquitoes and biting flies don't come anywhere near us. It has a strong scent that reminds me of lemons, but in a pleasant way. We will definitely be buying this again! The only con is that it's a pump spray, so when i try to spray my feet and legs, I have to keep turning the bottle right side up, and pump it a few times, to fill the little straw inside back up, so that it will spray properly upside down.

Spray bottle leaks and doesn't work well
The pump style spray bottle is terrible. It leaks a lot of the fluid each time you press it in, and often when you press it you get nothing coming out, or drops, but rarely a fine spray. I think as a repellent this works great and smells nice but you will really want to transfer it to a better spray bottle than the one it comes with. This is sold as a two pack and both bottles are like this.

Works well, very greasy
I was surprised at how tiny these are and I almost sent them back because of it. But the tiny size allows me to carry them with me everywhere. Mosquitoes love me and this stuff really works. It's very greasy so be prepared to scrub it off in the shower when you get home.
