It's a solid gaming laptop
Great little laptop. Runs all the modern games really well with the Ryzen 9 and 3070ti. Luckily i got it before the ram and gpu prices went up. But no real complaints so far!

I expected much better!
Mains power cuts during heavy usage, like when gaming. This forces the laptop to use the battery which causes a huge drop in performance. This is likely the Power Supply that is at fault and not the laptop, but it is unacceptable from the company like Asus. Also the pictures on the website are wrong, they are not the laptop you receive in the box, and it only has 165Hz screen not 240Hz

Amazing laptop. Very fast
Absolutely amazing laptop definitely worth the money. Very fast and keeps cool. The WiFi is very fast and I can get 1500+ mbps via wifi

No regrets
Used to replace a ten year old Gigabyte tower running an AMD FX 8 core, R9-360 v, and an early M.2. There's no buyers remorse paying over 1K for the ROG G614PH BUT...The Temp!! Especially when gaming. Yes it runs smooth 60 frames on high res, but a processor temp between 75-85 deg and the RTX 5050 at around 60 deg makes me wonder just how much power the laptop brick is really pushing in and how long it will last! What was a surprise, is when a six year old MSI 6600 v card was acquired. The near ten year old Gigabyte rig generated a constant 75 frames on a larger monitor, more than the framerate of the 2025 Rog Strix laptop. How?? OK, the FX processor is running flat out most of the time and the 16 core Ryzen 9 in the Rog is only at 30%, but it's still a surprise. Laptop build quality is good. slight glitch with the clickable pad binding on one side but a smidge of silicon oil cured that. Otherwise neat. Backlit keyboard doesn't float my boat though. Separating gaming keys just makes it more difficult to see markings in low light levels, no matter what colour they are set to. A micro sd drive would be good, but I guess it is a gaming laptop and does have fast ports for an external HD. Built in Armoury crate was finally removed in favour of Ghelper; less bloat. This freed up some of the 16G of memory which is only just enough, even if the 5050 does have it's own 8Gb. Wireless was difficult to set. Armoury Crate seemed to be switching it off when the screen switched off but auto connecting after power down restart. Something I don't like. But still no buyers remorse. Only a hint that gaming laptops shouldn't be sold with less than 32g of memory these days.

Good to future proof
Upgraded from a TUF with a 3070 so good jump with VRAM and 12GB being a sweet spot fot future games so would recommend spending a little extra on a Ti than the regular 5070 version as started hitting the wall on newer games with 8gb Vram previously

Great laptop, terrible description
The laptop itself works and feels really good, but description and pics are completely wrong. My model supposed to have 240hz display and numpad on touchpad, it has none of those, plus it came with mcafee malware

Excellent machine, just do your research (Amazon has misleading pics)
I'm leaving a 4 star review, only because Amazon used misleading marketing and imagery from the Intel version. The laptop itself is great, I watched plenty of reviews and benchmarks, read Asus' official product specs, and realised the AMD 8940HX variant uses the 2024 chassis, which has a WUXA display (1920x1200 @165Hz), and has the front light bar, only the intel variants have the full 360 light bar. Onto the product...fast, keeps very cool under load, I played Dead Space, and Calisto Protocol at Ultra settings (RT on) at native 4k (external screen), and easily got over 60fps (DLSS off). The internal screen is 1080p but has uniform brightness, and is ideal for a 5070ti which handles everything I threw at it easily. 300 - 400fps in Fortnite. I was worried that the 8940HX would struggle compared to a Core Ultra 9, but it's handling everything I play without any issue, while still keeping the laptop cool to the touch, and fans almost silent (AMD chassis has rear + side ventilation). Port selection is great, 2 USB A 3.2 Gen 1, and 2 USB4 (40gbps) one with display, one without. Intel variants have Thunderbolt 5, and the easy maintainance hatch, so if you need full port futerproofing intel may be a better option. I picked this AMD version up at £1800, which fit my budget, and with RAM prices set to skyrocket in 2026 I'd advise grabbing a 32GB+ and going for a 5070ti or higher (5070 has 8GB, 5070ti verion has 12GB). Ive only had it a week but very happy so far.

Blazing fast, powerful CPU and graphics card, plenty of RAM and disk space, and so much more! I absolutely love my new laptop! It is fast, easy to setup and get fully updated, and runs games better than my desktop does! I purchased the laptop during Amazon's Prime day as a little bit of a splurge. My previous laptop was nearly 10 years old and was really showing it's age, so it was time for a replacement. I will mention a few items that I'm less than pleased with. First is the number pad that overlays on the mouse pad. This is just a bad idea all around. Sometimes I press the Num Lock button on accident and when that happens the mouse pad stops working as a mouse. Plus, when I have a Bluetooth keyboard attached and activate the Num Lock, it actives the one on the mouse pad as well. Second, unlike other laptops of this price range, it only came with Windows 11 Home edition instead of Pro edition. So I had to pay to upgrade it as I prefer the Pro version as I have more control over the configuration of Windows itself. Last, I wish the display was a touchscreen display. But alas, it was not included with this version. But, all-in-all, I am pleased with the performance, quality, and appearance of this laptop. My hope is that this laptop will provide me with years of use and enjoyment! So far, it's off to a great start!

This is a pretty great laptop. I've had it for a few months now- though I would recommend running a few benchmarks when you get it. I've found a few problems that- had I properly tested things, I likely would have requested a replacement. Namely: For some reason, randomly, the keyboard just... stops accepting key presses. The "M" keys at the top of the keyboard still work, and connected keyboard/peripherals work properly, but for a fairly strange amount of time the keyboard just kinda stops, as if the system 'disconnects' from the keyboard. After a period of time (anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes), it works properly again. This can be problematic during intense gaming sessions. More recently- after a LOT of troubleshooting. I had to completely remove the keyboard drivers and install (while using a separate connected keyboard). It also gets pretty hot, Granted it's a gaming board, so it's expected- it doesn't hit the same temps as my previous MSI setup, nor my girl's Acer. Though it's a bit higher than comfortable. The keys are also in a bit of a strange configuration, so if you play anything that utilizes the 'Alt' key- here's a tip, using 'Fn' + 'Windows key' disables the Windows button until you use the shortcut again. Now that I'm done with the few things that have caused discomfort- I can throw ANY game at this and play it at high or Ultra settings (including Borderlands 4, this is before there has been any optimization done with that pile- so where everyone else is frustrated over the fact that they're stuttering all over the place after an hour, I'm still good- hopefully that whole thing is fixed by the time you pick this up, but if not- you'll be good) I upgraded my SSD and added a second, so I'm swimming in storage space, so I swap between games often. The reason I bring this up, is the way they've setup the keyboard lighting, it's killer. I've never liked RGB, but this changed that. I've got a different lighting setup between each game and I have full control over which lights are on/off and which colors are being used in which locations. The weight is a little over what my last rig was, but it's a much higher spec system, so that's a trade-off. Oh, and I would sincerely suggest, if you use a PC connected VR headset, you'll likely need some adapters, this has a great graphics card for VR gaming, but it likely won't have the connectors you need out the box. I feel like this review sounds more negative than I intended, but honestly, I'm STILL stoked that I have this rig, And in the future, when I upgrade to whatever the future holds, I'll be keeping this around as long as it's anywhere remotely as good as it is today.

Compared to the other gaming laptops, ROG Strix G16 will be little more expensive, however, you can feel that you get a quality machine that is going to last you long. If you are debating between 5070 and 5070 Ti as well as AMD or Intel, go with Intel version and 5070 Ti, since it has a new chassis. Amazing performance and speed. Not too noisy and doesn’t get too hot compared to other laptops.
