Q: Is this the same as the windshield rain x?

It is very similar to the windshield rain x. The concept is the same except it's totally safe for your shower doors. It definitely help prevent the scrum on the doors. It keep you glass clear.

Q: Does it produce fumes?

Yes, strong fumes. Bottle recommends to use in a ventilated area which is really hard inside a shower stall. If you have any respiratory issues or other medical problems, be very careful using this. I had the fan on and had a coughing fit in seconds. I have no medical issues.

Q: What is the difference between this product made for shower doors and the automotive product for windshields?

It’s formulated for the Shower & Soap Scum & treated Hard Water from your local water system. Rain water has not been treated with Chlorine or Florid so believe that’s the difference! Check the RainX web site which may give you more info! I have different RainX for my car windshield! When applying wear some Medical/Mask & Some googles when applying in a shower & bathroom with little or poor venting! It does irritate the eyes and says so on the bottle! I ran the Bath fan to help pull the fumes out when applying! It really WORK WELL! Water just beads off the Shower Glass & it squeegees Off in a flash if you keep one in the Shower!

I didn't see any staining of the tile on y shower floor.
