The 20th Century Records Albums (1973-1979) [VINYL]

Virtually everything that Barry White released that's essential is in this box set. It's showing as "unavailable", so it ought to have another production run. I'm guessing it would sell out again, it's so good! I'm not going to chunter about the box set because it has everything, but just make one observation. The absolute DIRE state of the mastering on the originals (well, it was almost 50 years ago) has well and truly been fixed. Tracks like 'I'm Qualified To Satisfy You' further suffered from a weak signal but, to hear these remasters, you wouldn't know that. And the same thing about the brilliant remastering goes for the box set 'Barry White The Complete 20th Century Records Singles 1973-1979'.

What a treat to have all the albums Barry recorded for 20th Century in one box. Lovingly remastered they sound as good now as when I bought them on vinyl back in the day. The CD replicas of each album from the gatefold sleeve when appropriate to the correct original label has been done superbly. I am not going to go on about actual tracks as if you are a Barry White fan you will know them. I do think a little booklet similar to that which was with the singles set would of been nice with details of musicians etc but I'll survive without it. Now hopefully the Love Unlimited Orchestra albums will be treated the same way shortly.

The complete Barry White discography of albums released on the 20th Century Record label between 1973-79. Does what it says on the tin. Each CD is housed in a replica of the original album cover. The music is of course great- this is Barry White at the peak of his powers and all the iconic hits are included in their extended album form. Sound quality is good. The only thing missing is any form of accompanying notes/info with details of each album. The text on the repo covers is impossible to read. Apart from that this is an excellent collection and at a superb price.

Barry at his best. Starting with the soulful “So Much to Give” the perfect “Stone Gon” and “Can’t Get Enough “ and all the other 20th Century releases. These are the classic albums from the maestro. Put this in your collection with the Love Unlimited Orchestra and Glodeans Love Unlimited and you’ve got it all. Brilliant. Good sound and so well produced. Top stuff.

First I would like to thank Universal for the excellent packaging. The sleeves are the original album covers including gate-fold - still no booklet but still an improvement - it is a pity they did not do that with the Marvin Gaye box sets!! I did not have all these albums on original release but enjoy them just the same as the ones I did buy. A very worthwhile purchase.

Excellent package of Barry White's 20th Century albums. Love the longer versions of singles and many excellent tracks that are new to me. Now I need the complete singles CD for the instrumental versions. Fantastic stuff.

Strollin in my car in the beautiful sunshine ...blaring out the sound of Barry White....HEAVEN!!!! Does anyone know if there is to be a (boxset 79 onwards????)

box hardly has space with the 9 discs that comes in the box, the packaging is very tight and thus compressing the vinyl records
