From old Laptop HDD to superfast SDD
Got on a daily deal for a great price. I'm using an old laptop so 480GB SSD was more than already in it (360GB). I'd looked up upping the RAM, but the motherboard was at max capacity (at just 4GB) so my only option to improve the speed of aging but used daily laptop was this.I've not done much with PC's in my time, I'm a console gamer and upgrading is completely foreign to me. But I am learning and keen to learn. So I took a punt on this knowing that SSD's are supposed to speed up old machines.I did my research - if upgrading a laptop (replacing the current drive) you'll need a SATA to USB cable, means of making a bootable disk (USB stick or CD/DVD will do) and make sure you back up your files in case it all goes wrong (I use an external hard drive but online is fine). Loads of pages online explaining how to clone a hard drive will really help you out. Use google. This comes with software for free that will guide through it all, adjusting partitions for you and making it really easy to do. I had huge issues at first that even Google couldn't seem to solve but after a lot of trawling my old hard drive just needed to be scanned by windows and have multiple errors on it corrected - these prevented the clone from working first few times but this is not the fault of the new SDD, just an issue with my old HDD that stopped me in my tracks for over a week!Once sorted, I did it correctly and changed over HDD to SDD. The speed improvement was noticeable almost immediately. Now it boots fast but, more importantly, things load fast. I have over 100GB of music files and when starting my media player it used to take an age to load up the full list. Now it takes seconds. Seriously, like 2 seconds. Incredible.Should you get this - yes. If you're after similar to me. There are even faster SSD's out there and if you have a high end machine you'll probably want to invest a bit more in a faster drive. But this for me is so much faster than where I started that it's irrelevant. However - as a warning, if you know nothing about PC's and see all the innards and language beyond comprehension - you will not be able to do this. I'm not great at all, but I am keen to learn and am able to grasp some terms and understand a little of how these machines work. I'm also realistic, from years of PC use, to know that things will go wrong in the most unexpected ways and you have to be able to step away, for days if needed, and then come back and do the google trawl, sometimes for hours, to get the solution. However, if you're up for this, all this is a fantastic learning experience too.Hope it all goes well.

Nice budget SSD which is works fine in Windows 10
Nice low cost SSD and an essential PC upgrade. I used it in a desktop which required the purchase of a bracket to fit it. Ther is a major improvement in speed and its much quieter with no whirring drives and saves on energy. I was going to get the faster and more expensive MX200 but for my purposes the budget drive made more sense since I don't need encryption, and the slightly slower write speeds makes no difference to me. Some reviews have said this is slow compared to other SSDs on the market which are probably 3 times the cost. In casual home use a few milliseconds makes no difference and being a solid state drive its much faster and reliable than mechanical hard drives. It includes a free version of Acronis which was useless to me since it can't shrink partitions. I used a full versions of Macrium Reflect which can resize the partitions to what ever size you need. Note the free version of Reflect also can't resize partitions. The free version of the Paragon Partition manager or Windows Disk manager also failed to shrink my partition, and so a thumbs up for the full version of Reflect as well.

Great cheap SSD for people that works with files under 3GB.
I bought this SSD without reading the reviews and then after reading the bad reviews I was unsure if I did a good purchase.Receiving the SSD very skeptical, I installed it on my Lenovo Laptop and made a clean install of Windows 10 as I was afraid to do a image from my old 1TB HDD and be a very slow process. Windows 10 PRO installed very quickly in about 10 to 15 min, the difference in speed is very noticeable.I am not a power user that work with big videos or files, this SSD has a very quick 3GB cache that makes it very fast, as soon you don't work with files bigger than this, you will be just fine. If you are transferring a lot of files, yes, the performance will go down after the cache is full, but even still faster than a regular Hard Drive. With HDD and 24GB SSD for quick start, my laptop was taking about 2 to 3 minutes to fully boot up, now with the Crucial BX200 it takes few seconds.I am very happy with this product and even more that I got it on the promotion of Boxing Day for a very cheap price. So if you are not a power user working with files bigger than 3GB its very higly recommended.

great apart from one thing
I am using this SSD in an external USB 3.0 caddy to run mac OS X on my mac mini, and I have to say it did not disappoint. As soon as the OS was loaded onto it, my computer loads almost all its applications from 1-3 seconds!! and the price of this product is good considering what you get. The only concern is that the write speeds seem to significantly decrease under even HDD speeds when having to write very large amounts of data. This issue is not apparent unless you write very large amounts of data often, so is not an issue for most people, including myself. Another note is that read speeds are what makes your computer seem faster, and so is more important than write speeds for most people, and even then , write speeds are great 99% of the time on this SSD. Definitely recommend if you are on a budget!
