Between sizes?
I bought two sizes and didn't find either comfortable. The larger size was obviously much too large, but the smaller was a little too short and the thong piece hurt. I think these look nice and could be comfortable if the fit is right.

Awful - soft and cushy bottom with tight and terrible straps
These are the worst sandals ever. The bottom is soft and squishy. It reminds me a bit of the “fitness” style shoes which were supposed to tone your legs. They are thick and would be very comfortable. These run small! I always wore an 8/8.5 but after pregnancy my foot grow closer to a 9. These nine are a bit small. I’ve never needed a 9.5 or 10. But maybe that would help with the awful tight straps. The problem is these terrible straps. I thought these would be like my old Teva sandals from the 90s. These are a stiff woven material with no stretch. They are so tight and uncomfortable. They dig into my foot and leave red marks - after only 10 minutes. These few like they are made of those plastic strapping straps for putting a pallet together. Who would want these on a bare foot? They also have a toe thong that is so painful. The back heel strap is also too tight and difficult to get on:off without unlatching.I wore these around my house. And couldn’t wait to take them off. Just awful.

Made for only flat feet
Could have been cute but these are not adjustable except for the one strap. These are made for really low volume and flat feet. They advertise these as made from the makers of Chaco, there’s no way this is possible. Expensive Chaco rip offs.

OK but could be better...
Sole is great, what I expected as a long time treadle insole user. Even though I am an 8, 8 1/2 in other shoes, I ordered 9 because of reviews. Very glad because the 9 is just right. The strap between the toes doesnt bother me, I wear enough shoes like that my toes are used to the feeling. The straps are nice material and comfy. But the buckle is really poor design. Difficult to open and close. I expected a clip type buckle, I didnt look that carefully before buying. I thought I wanted these in more colors, but not now after having to fiddle with the buckle, which I hate, especially end of day when you are tired and just want to toss off your dirty shoes!

Cute but tight.
The media could not be loaded. I have a pair of chacos that I absolutely love. But, they can get super stinky because of the way the straps are built. Tread labs also makes chacos so I thought I would try these out. Initially, I thought they would be stretchy from the photos. It turns out, they are more of a canvas knit material that has very little movement. This would be fine, except for the fact that the toe area is very tight. The length from the toe to the heel seems short for the shoe. I have narrow feet, and it’s slightly uncomfortable on me. I can’t imagine this would fit anyone with larger than narrow feet because of how tight the straps are. Also, you cannot just slide them in and off because the material doesn’t have any “give.” You have to completely unlatch the buckle and relax him and put him back on, which is kind of inconvenient when you’re trying to run out the door. I plan to wear them in Thailand, so will try to break them in over the next week. Will update if it gets better but right now I wouldn’t recommend.EDIT:These came SUPER tight so I got them wet and started walking around to break them in. After walking, hiking, and trekking through beach water/rain, I can say I HIGHLY recommend them. They have adjusted to my feet and are no longer tight. I spent a week in Thailand on my feet for 8-10 hours in these with zero rubbing, blisters or pain. They are versatile and comfortable and fit like a glove. They are also tall enough to withstand the normal puddle without getting your feet wet. They didn’t fade when wet and have been my go to shoe in this backpacking trip. Highly recommend

Fabulous footbed, problematic upper (straps)
The footbed design on these is great, with a very comfortably molded shape that caresses and holds the foot stably. What amazes me, on sandals of this price with the experience Tread Labs has in shoes, is how poorly the straps are thought out and designed. The straps have no give to them, and the strap/buckle is so tight that figuring out how one is expected to put them on is a challenge: do you sort of keep them buckled and wriggle into them? Not enough extra strap is there to really make this very easy, and you end up fishing around the buckle trying to get a grip to re-tighten them. Are you supposed to thread them through each time you put them on? The buckle is tight and small to have to take the time to do this repeatedly. Then there's the angle and tension on the toe strap. On one of the feet, it's acceptable, but on the other, the angle and inflexibility digs into the top of the space between the toes making them unwearably uncomfortable.Looking at other reviews, the straps seem to be a common problem, so I'm hoping the company can do something to address this, as with $120 sandals, I'd really have hoped for some better quality control and fit and finish.
