Since it was made in China the battery (AA) there battery must be smaller then ours' . It took some time and energy to put our size battery in the opening but it did not fit properly. I had to squeeze it in only half way on the positive side to make contact. Either include a Chinese size batters or have them make to opening bigger.

This is such a lovely clock! However, we were going to used it in one of our bathrooms. But my husband thought it was a bit too big. My neighbor had come to our house to give us something that she made for us. When she saw this clock she fell in love with it. So we gave it to her. She put it in her sewing room. And it looks wonderful there. This clock looks even nicer on hand than it does in the picture. I am so glad that I can still see it when I visit my neighbor! And it works very well too!

I really liked this clock but it didn't look right where I needed it to go. It is thin but not a problem for me. If it fits your decor I would recommend buying it.

Only thing, it doesn't light up but I still enjoy it
