This box is everything I had hoped it would be! I was worried because it was so affordable that it would not be what I imagined. I was wrong, this box is exquisite! It is sanded and finished on the inside so it feels really nice when you open it, and your skin doesn't snag on the wood. The bottom is also sanded and finished. I bought the floral design, and the top carvings line up with the bottom, a really nice touch that kicks it up a notch. I bought it as a gift but I don't know if that's going to happen, I don't think I can part with it. I have bought several other boxes that are not finished so finely and cost more money! I love the wood too. On mine it kind of fades into dark toward the back, like a super subtle ombre effect. I don't know if it's the wood itself or the stain. Again, this is on both the top and the bottom which makes it look like it was planned. Maybe it was, so bravo, it looks great! If it were only on the top it would feel mismatched and cheap. Thank you for your quality craftsmanship, now I need to pick out another one, haha. As with most rosewood pieces I have bought I did buff off excess stain with a microfiber cloth, no big deal as that is usually the case. I can report that it was packaged with loving care and has no smell at all.

I wanted a special gift for a friend, and this is it.It is just beautiful. It arrived packed with care and the price is so right. I know my friend will be impressed with this keepsake. I certainly am.

BEAUTIFUL box. 4 stars for very cheap latch/lock. It came not working so, I pulled off the entire latch, just four very small nails, in 1 min with pliers. Now the box is perfect! Just no lock anymore.

CAUTION - BEAUTIFUL BUT SMELLS OF MILDEWThis gorgeous box was used in presenting an award to an executive assistant. Classy presentation but the entire box smelled of mildew. We kept apologizing to the award recipient. Even tried spraying it with perfume. We will see how long the odor lingers. Embarrassing.
