Revised review due to amazing customer service!
**Update 11/2/25 After reaching out to the company they are sending me a replacement at no cost! So due to that I am giving them the rating I believe they deserve for taking care of their customers.** I bought this monitor and camera set 6 months ago based on the good reviews. This is a fairly pricy set and today my monitor totally crashed. It just had a software update about a week ago. Now without WiFi it’s totally useless. I am very upset and of course the return window is already over. I recommend this set to all 5 of my sisters in law 3 of which are looking for a good monitor set. I will be telling them not to bother and I hope this review helps others as well. I am really upset about this happening because before this I really loved this setup.

Great camera for twins
I scoured the market for a baby monitor for my twins. I could not find a monitor with two cameras, wi-Fi capability and good reviews. I finally decided to just go for a wide, angled single camera and saw this had good reviews so we bought it. Honestly, there’s really no downfall to this camera. We have loved it and it has been perfect for us. The clarity is good enough for what we need. It has night vision and you can zoom in on each baby. We love the feature for sound detection. Our babies were very noisy sleeper so we would turn the volume off and just have the sound detection on so that we wouldn’t hear every single noise and we could get a little bit of sleep I love being able to check in if I’m not home or if I don’t have the monitor right in front of me, the app is easy to use. If I had to give it down fall, probably the only thing I don’t like is that the app does not record for longer than a few seconds and you it refreshes after several captures so you can’t go too far back and you can’t save anything .

Reliable and easy to set-up and use!
Outstanding Baby Monitor With Clear Video and Reliable Alerts The VTech VM901 has exceeded my expectations in almost every way. The 1080p camera delivers a crisp, clear picture both day and night, and the 5" IPS display is bright, sharp, and easy to see even from across the room. The remote pan‑tilt‑zoom is incredibly smooth, and being able to adjust the view without entering the nursery is a huge plus. The WiFi connection and free app work surprisingly well. I love that I can check in from my phone when I’m away from home, and the motion and sound detection alerts are fast and accurate without being overly sensitive. The motion video clips are a great feature too—they make it easy to see exactly what triggered the alert. Setup was quick and painless, and the monitor has stayed connected without any random dropouts. The range on the parent unit is solid, and the audio is clear with no static. It feels like VTech really thought through the features parents actually need. Overall, this is a fantastic baby monitor that combines excellent video quality, reliable notifications, and user‑friendly controls. It gives real peace of mind, and for the price, it’s an incredible value. Highly recommended for any parent looking for a dependable, modern monitor.

AVOID VTech Baby Monitors - Poor Quality & Terrible Customer Service
DO NOT BUY VTECH BABY MONITORS - Here's why: My first VTech monitor (VM901) lasted about 1.5 years before the battery completely failed. The monitor would only work when plugged in, making it essentially useless as a portable monitor. I tried replacing the battery myself but found it was nearly impossible to access and replace. Eventually the monitor stopped working even when plugged in. Of course, this failure happened just after the 1-year warranty expired, leaving me without a functional monitor. Hoping it was just bad luck, I purchased a second VTech monitor (VM901HD) for $129.95. This one completely failed within just one month of purchase. The monitor stopped working entirely, leaving me without any way to monitor my toddler during sleep and naps. After the second monitor failed, I contacted VTech support and went through their troubleshooting process, but nothing worked. They directed me to fill out a warranty replacement form on their website. I submitted the form on Tuesday, May 27th, and their auto-response promised a reply within 1-2 business days. Six days passed with no response. As a parent without a functioning baby monitor for nearly a week, I was dealing with constant anxiety about my child's safety during sleep times. I finally called on Monday, June 2nd to follow up, and only then did they escalate my case. When VTech finally responded, their "solution" was insulting. Instead of replacing my $129.95 VM901HD with the same model, they offered to send me an RM5764HD—a different model that retails for only $119.95. So not only did I lose a week without a monitor, but they wanted to downgrade me to a cheaper model with no compensation for the inconvenience or safety concerns. The pattern here is clear: 1. Poor build quality with non-replaceable batteries that fail quickly 2. Customer service that's slow, unresponsive, and doesn't prioritize safety concerns 3. A replacement policy that downgrades customers to cheaper products My Strong Recommendation: Choose ANY Other Brand. After two failed monitors and terrible customer service, I cannot recommend VTech baby monitors to any parent. Your child's safety is too important to risk on unreliable products backed by a company that doesn't stand behind what they sell. I have attached images of all 3 monitors.

3 years later
Purchased this in Feb 2022. Here it is 3 years later and I still think this is the best camera we've ever purchased. It does all the things. Only compliant is sometimes it drops wifi connection so the monitor will beep until you reset everything and other times it fixes itself eventually. After 3 years of constant 24/7 use the battery life on the parent monitor is less than ideal but as long as you leave it plugged in it still works perfectly. The app makes it so you dont absolutely need the parent monitor. I recommend this to every new parent. Its been a lifesaver for years literally. Plus you can use multiple cameras in different rooms and view them all at once or individually on the app too.

Great image quality
First impressions - this monitor is very good. The image is very clear and it was easy to set up and connect the wifi. I purchased a Motorola brand monitor and the image quality was trash. After searching for hours I decided to give this Vtech a try and wow. The image is so clear on the parent unit and on the app. Will report back if any issues arise too soon.

LOVE
I absolutely LOVE this baby monitor! It is SOOOOO clear and I can see my baby breathing, (as I have anxiety and will zoom in on him sleeping to make sure he breathes). I can also hook it up to my phone and watch him from my phone when I’m not home and he gets put down for his naps. Or I just take the monitor with me around the house when I’m doing chores so I can keep an eye on him. It will also tell me the temperature in his room(but k don’t think that is always accurate as a heads up)

Really wanted to like this Baby Monitor
So i've been in the market for a baby monitor and wanted one that had a standalone monitor AND Wifi capabilities to stream on an App/Phone. I tried the Hubble Nursery Pal Crib Edition which i liked because it satisified my first 2 requirements and also included a nice crib mount boom arm that centerd above the crib, however i returned it due to poor connection issues and the fact you had to pay to have more than two app devices connected to it, no thank you. The Vtech vm901 seemed much than the hubble at first. However there were a several issues that made me give up on it. First the app connects ok to the camera however the only way to stream to multiple devices is that you share your account username and password to all users. That may not be an issue to some but when i'm sharing the camera with my parents or in-laws who arent exactly tech savy i'd like to share the camera but limit their access rights to prevent them from accidentally moving the camera or make changes to my user settings (ibaby cam app has this feature). Not a deal breaker but the issues go on. Battery life on the monitor is quite poor even with the screen turned off and the unit on standby it won't last more than 3-4hrs without a power source, this was the case with the wifi turned on or off (radio frequency instead of wifi being used). Also the volume setting on the monitor is too loud in the lowest setting and often found myself just turning off sound all together. Another issue i had was with the App, there is a feature where short motion videos can be recorded. The first few days it would only record upto 2 videos and then overwrite them as new motions were detected. Then after about a week, there would be no recordings at all, even though the setting was turned ON, i tried deleting and re-pairing the camera, resetting the camera, reinstalling the app, nothing worked. I emailed customer service, and received zero help. I receive an automated email stating that service volume was high, and never heard back thereafter. So i gave up on the VM901, really wanted to like it but sadly it was dissappointing like the rest. I resorted to using the iBaby M8 2k camera, there is no standalone monitor, but i just dedicated an old tablet i had to stream from the camera. Connectivity is great, motion capture videos are on point, and i can share the camera with limited access with no subscription fees.
