Unlike many parents I know, I do love Elf on the Shelf and have a blast coming up with things for my elves to do. I'm going to use this set as a gift from Santa and my two elves for my daughters, but you can certainly use it in lieu of elves if you choose. The reindeer is adorable and super soft - I love the book! It's beautifully illustrated and the premise of the book is that Santa sends these reindeer to the children for them to love and hold and uses these reindeer to get to know the children and what they like to help him decide on what to bring them versus an elf who spies and tattles on them when they are bad. The message of the book is also nice - that it's okay to be different (the reindeer has one antler shorter than the other) and that you can help no matter what size you are as the reindeer does. They are set to arrive on December 1 and then you are supposed to put him under the tree Christmas Eve night and he goes home with Santa that night. You also get to name your new friend.I bought two of these, one for each of my girls, and I can't wait to see their faces. Since they can't touch our elves, they'll love having these to hold and snuggle with. This will be a fun new tradition in our house in addition to our elves, Lenny and Noelle.

GREAT alternative to Elf of the Shelf!

I bought this for my 5 year old instead of elf on the shelf (because…just no) and it is perfect. The reindeer is a nice size to cuddle with and it comes with a cute story that celebrates being different! The only downside is that she bawled when her reindeer had to go back to the North Pole on Christmas Eve, but I can’t wait to see her face when he returns next December 1st.

I bought this product last year for my son when he was too. This year he was able to name the reindeer and he takes him everywhere he goes! I can’t say enough about this amazing new Christmas tradition we have with our little reindeer Randy! I love that The main purpose this sweet little reindeer has is to get to know the child! I never liked the fact that the elf is not allowed to be touched and reports back to Santa if a child is noddy were nice so basically he’s a narc and the kid have to be good but the elf kids and all sorts of trouble the total double standard?! This is such a much better sweet tradition! I also purchased one for my nephew! We absolutely love Randy the reindeer and he will be with her family for a very long time!

Love our new Christmas Tradition!! When I first heard about this in August, I bought 2 right away for my kids!! Christmas was still 4 months away but so was already dreading “The Elf” visiting again! That little thing as been a huge pain and caused me great stress over the years!! When I read what this company came up with as an alternative, I couldn’t wait to order my kids each one!!On December 1st, they received their new friends from Santa and we explained how Santa has all different kinds of friends to help him and this year he sent his reindeer friends instead of “The Elf.” The book was a great help in making the transition from Elf to Reindeer a lot smoother, it has the whole story on where the Reindeer come from and how they keep their magic.It’s now been 5 days and they still carry their new friends everwhere, talking to them,showing their friends and teachers, and just really embracing this new tradition!!!I would recommended this to anyone who is fed up with “The Elf”!!

The Reindeer stuffed animal and the storybook are adorable. This was purchased for my youngest grandchild. Bella is 3 yr old and her 2 brothers had 'Elf on the shelf' books and dolls. I am not a fan of 'Elf on the shelf' and this Reindeer caught my eye. After reading the beautiful story of the reindeer, I fell in love with him and gave him to Bella w/his book. She just loved him so much. Now the Reindeer is part of the Christmas decorations and evening stories her family does between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Wonderful childhood memories and reindeer to keep for years.

I saw this on a Microtia Parent Support group, I couldnt help but buy it for my son. I wanted to share some great highlights of the book. It talks about how other animals have differences like a snowman with a candy cane nose, cross eyed penguins, polar bears with less hair and about how reindeer with different sized antlers isnt normal. But it focuses in how NO ONE is "normal". My youngest son with grade 3 right sided microtia atresia, he is too young to understand but my 5 year old picked up on it right away that the reindeer was like his brother. I recommend for Christmas! I am so happy this book and cute stuffed animal is out there! Cute and cuddly as well!

I really wish I had ordered directly from the company it didn’t come in the cute gift box from Santa and was very disappointed that my niece didn’t get the fun experience thinking it was a special delivery
