Elgento Two Slice Toaster, 800 W -Cream

My last cheap toaster lasted all of 2 weeks before failing in a flash of sparks. So I decided that maybe I should look for a more expensive and therefore better model. I checked the reviews on Amazon for toasters costing £30 plus, up to £70 but the reviews still weren't that glowing. So I looked at cheaper toasters again and chose this Elgento based on the reviews being as good as for more expensive models.It arrived in only 3 days on free delivery and on unpacking it looked fine - somewhat retro looking (maybe just old fashioned!). I toasted my normal bread, a multigrain wholemeal, and was pleasantly surprised at the general feel of the controls. They felt more positive than the cheap one I had before. The results were also pleasing; a nice even browning on both sides. It was easy to lift the toast out, you can raise it up quite high so it will work well for hot cross buns too.It has buttons for reheat, defrost and bagel. I had no idea what a bagel setting did and the manual does not say. However, an internet search informed me that it toasts one side only (the side nearest the middle of the toaster) and this should be the cut side.Overall, I would definitely recommend this toaster if it continues to be reliable. It does come with a 2 year warranty which is reassuring.Now we have used this for 6 months I can confirm that it still performs well and still rates 5 stars.
