Does not compare with Miele induction cooktop
We bought the Thermador cook top assuming that the performance would be comparable to the Miele that we have at our other home. The Miele is far superior. The controls on the Thermador are clunky by comparison because to change the temperature you have to first select the burner and then touch another control to do so, whereas on the Miele the adjustment is made more directly. As to the cooking, i find that the settings on the The Thermador from 1 to 5 generate little heat and i generally need to use much higher settings, which means that the range of temperatures is quite narrow. With the Mile, even the very low settings will heat a pan quickly and even at the lowest setting i can keep a pot at a low boil. This is impossible with the Thermador, so for all round versatility, i recommend the Milele.

Love This Cook-Top!
I bought this cook-top last summer and absolutely love it. I have a white kitchen so I wanted the mirror finish and even though the price was higher than the black version I decided to just bite the bullet and go for it. And I am so happy I did. Also in the running at the time was a Wolf gas cook-top but I just did not want to deal with the constant more complicated cleaning. What a wise decision as I am always sponging off spills and other messes which is so easy with the glass. And it does not show wipe marks like the black version tends to do as I have been told by someone who has one.It is so easy to set the temperature. The more you use it the more intuitive it becomes to know the correct number to use. I can just set it and walk away. And you can also set a timer for each burner so it will turn off automatically. There are some issues to be aware of but nothing that can't be adapted to just like any cooking source. You need pots that are compatible. I had to buy a few new ones as not all of my previous ones worked. No problem really and it gave me a chance to update some of my old ones. I carried a little magnet around with me when I went pot shopping. You also cannot do the "chef shake" on the pans without potentially causing scratches. I am pretty careful about this but when I make popcorn I can just put a paper towel or parchment paper between the pot and the burner to avoid this issue. So this is really a non-issue for me but it might be for someone else.Unlike a gas stove there are burner sizes which are more suited to various pot sizes. For example I have a small butter warmer which will only work on the small back right element. But again these are things which I have become accustomed to and in no way makes me wish I had chosen gas. I love that I do not have to guess what the right gas setting is for cooking.I just love my cook-top and I am so happy with my choice. It works for me.

Not Reliable and Thermador hard to deal with
I have a Thermador induction cooktop CIT365GM, the earlier version of the CIT365KM. It worked great for five years then it started playing up. When I go to turn it on, all of the burners and the timer have a flashing “E”. I have had the technician out several times. He replaced the display panel twice. It worked for five days after the first time and three days after the second time. The technician also called technicians and neither of them know what is wrong with the cooktop. I have spent the last year dealing with this issue. Thermador does not know what is wrong with the cooktop therefore does not know how to fix it. The serial number is 000007, which makes me believe that it is the seventh one off the production line. Either they are hiding a known issue that has been fixed in newer models or they do not want to admit that they do not know what is wrong with it. I asked them to replace the cooktop because they cannot fix it. They have offered to have me pay over $2200 to replace it. Thermador is supposed to be high end and should work for more than five years.

Induction Cooking Masterpiece
I was concerned about a mirrored surface cooktop showing every scratch and being a nightmare to keep clean and presentable. Our kitchen is a working area for at least two meals a day. Our meal preparation philosophy is "slow food" sourced locally and made from scratch if possible. We bake our own bread, can produce from the garden, and entertain regularly. Our requirements for a cooktop were pretty stringent. Our house is all electric with no gas service, so induction was our first consideration. We bought a single burner portable induction hot plate before remodeling to try it out. It was only 1500 watts but still out-performed our old coil cooktop. We wanted the flexibility of five burners and a large burner for oversized pans. This unit has both. In short, we are very satisfied with our purchase. We've had no issues with malfunctions--knock wood! Cleaning the surface is easier than our old coil burner cooktop with the enameled steel frame. A quarter-sized squirt of ceramic cooktop cleaner rubbed into the surface after wiping down with a damp sponge leaves it looking like new.Pros:Fabulous presentation!Incredibly rapid heatingBroad range of heat levels"Keep warm" settingEasy clean upCons:Price causes sticker shockLame customer service and poor installation instructions
