The New Holistic Herbal

It was in great condition smell so bad though also it was pretty dirty but other than that I love it

I think the reason more people don't get into herbal medicine is because of all the pseudo-spiritual, earth-muffin filler and New Age b.s. that is so often packaged together with it. I bought this book to learn about herbs, not about about somebody else's ideas on Gaia the Earth Mother. I've already been in a New Age cult, I just want to know what herbs do what. The first 25 or so pages were basically wasted.

This is a wonderful resource for anyone committed to herbal medicine and holistic living. However, I would not say that it is for the beginner. Hoffman does not offer comprehensive safety information, such as for pregnancy or breastfeeding. Also, the herbal is geared towards a European audience and therefore some of the herbs in the book are not readily found in the U.S. or go by different names here.I return to this herbal consistently, especially when I would like to focus on a particular body system or problem. For example, I recently cleansed my liver for spring was able to create my own blend combining information from this herbal with my general knowledge and other herbals.

Great book

I've just had a quick look through the book and it looks like it's got most things you need to use herbs for first aid. It tells some of the attributes of each common herb and explains the various ways of preparing herbs for various uses.

A coworker suggested that I get this book.

His book has an approach of working holistically with the body and different systems. He gives wonderful recommendations, and then some not wonderful recommendations (specifically in the nutrition aspect of drinking skim milk). Otherwise this is a wonderful resource to have.

The book is a great classic Herbalist basic knowledge.But the copy what I purchased was not new, but used.As you can see in the attached pictures, there was some old food traces between the pages.I had to disinfect the book…

A great go-to herbal which priorities the systems of the body and herbal actions, with an introduction on holism. Some points are a bit dated now, like the use of comfrey root, but in general a really top book.

If you want to rely on herbal alternatives, this is the reference book for you. Provides clear guidance on all herbal remedies and how they work for the symptoms displayed.

As a herbalist I really love this book, it is much easier to read than my notes, Clearly defined into chapters and makes research so much easier,
