Update: am using them now to secure over a huge bowl as I am staining fermenting apples to make apple cider vinegar. These bands make straining so much easier! I’ve now used them to: 1. Strain Apple cider vinegar using band over large stainless steel pot. 2. To hold my crock pot lid on while transporting soup. 3. over the trash cans in the kitchen-been using the same two bands over a year. 4. Secure cheesecloth over 23 quart presto pressure cooker to strain homemade chicken/beef stock. 5. Holds an ice pack over your foot or arm beautifully when in a pinch. 6. Secure cheesecloth to mason jars during beginning stages of fermentation. Thoughts: I honestly don’t know how people strain a huge pot using a cheese cloth without one of these. I have purchased these bands 4x’s now because I use them daily for fermenting. I will also never go back to an unsecured trash.

I really like these. They are well made, wide and thick too. Great elasticity. They will last, so to me they're worth the price. They also fit my kitchen and study garbage cans perfectly. Just a thought: I've learned to remind family members and cleaners not to grab them up accidentally into the garbage; they are bright white and I use black garbage cans, so it's a mystery to me. Seems many people clean in a half-focused, disembodied, high speed frenzy; but these bands are too great to get throw away accidentally.

Have you ever had the garbage bag jump into the pail?? This stops that messy thing from happening! The elastic keeps the bag firmly in place until you remove it to take the full bag out! Great product!

I've used these bands before to keep the plastic liner in my trash and recycling containers, and they work very well. Just know they are natural rubber, so they dry out and wear out over time, even if they're still in the bag unused. So now I keep them in their bag in my freezer to prolong their functional life. Of course a bag of frozen rubber bands will humor and confuse any friend who looks in your freezer, but laugh along with them and know it is the right thing to do.
