Amazing that a pump this good can be so cheap.
I used this pump for a very unconventional dual-tank setup. The pump pulls the water out of a 55G African cichlid tank before moving it through a bunch of moving media and up around 7’ to the top of another 40G heavily planted shrimp tank. The plants and shrimp handle all the waste from the cichlids because they will eat everything in their tank. I usually keep the pump at level 10/20, but I love having the ability to adjust the flow in small increments right from the control panel. This thing has been cranking for about 2 years now nonstop and shows no signs of failure. Its also extremely quiet. I withheld my review on this for a long time, because I feel that longevity and reliability are pretty much the most important things. Any pump can shoot a bunch of water for a little while, but 2 years of pumping dirty water with no problems is worthy of a 5 star review.

Worked out of the box, and hasn’t stopped after a week straight.
It’s been running non-stop at full capacity for a little over a week now and still going strong. I’m using it in a small outdoor pond with goldfish and koi that got really icky over the winter. The previous pump I got on Amazon died after 1 day, so I returned that, upgraded to this one. Got it next day, and the icky water is now clear enough to see all of the individual leaves on the bottom that need to be cleared out, as well a clearly being able to count the 25 Goldies and 5 Koi that miraculously all made it through the Long Island winter. I love that it is a 24VDC pump because I can power from a solar-charged battery set; but it still comes with a 120VAC adapter so I was able to test it out before attaching to my DC setup. I have it submerged and can not hear the pump at all, at least not over the trickling water sounds of my temporary ghetto 5gal bucket bio filter. It’s definitely not struggling or getting warm or anything like that, so I expect it to keep going through the summer with my eventual big/waterfall filter system. If it’s going to die. It would probably be in the next couple weeks while it is pumping all the winter muck out, and of course I know Amazon has my back for another 3 weeks, if it does. After that just pumping clean water, so I’m not too worried.

Quiet, cute and strong
The negatives (only a few but not bad): 1). There should be a 90 degree angle input option that can be screwed on so that it can work in lower water levels. 2). The remote should have an on/off, not just a 10 minute "feed" shutoff option. I ended up buying https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FT4RBBM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to turn the pump on and off. 3) One set of plugs is not screw in, and they tend to fall out or get pulled out and of course the pump won't work. 4) I make fountains and I know there are many people who will use these for other than fishtanks. So perhaps the word "FEED" can be replaced by the word "PAUSE" so that people can use it on fountains, in water walls and other places besides fishtanks. As I said, these are mainly all minor... This is a really great pump. The positives: It's great! It's so quiet. Even on the level 20. I like that it goes up 20 levels. Many pumps go up to 3, 5, 10. It pumps the amount that they said it does. I also like that it's white and black, which matches the fountains I produce. The connection design and the pieces that go with them are good, strong and solid. I have tried mostly every pump on Amazon. This is clearly top for me and I plan to buy more. I plan to buy many more.

Seems solid after full month of use
Solid feeling, nice looking pump and it makes way more sense to submerge a 24v unit than 110/240v! Nice long power and controller cords. Controller retains settings after a power shutoff though multiple people responded saying it doesn’t. It doesn’t have a power switch! Aggravating but not a deal killer. Barbed fitting sizes are a little clunky but with some warm water got them to work with my 3/4 and 1/2 inch vinyl tubing. I’m only using inline and it runs ultra quietly unless you have some air in there. While testing I ran it dry and upon restoring ample head to supply bucket it was noisy and pumping rate quite reduced. It took a little messing around to get all the air out of impeller housing and back to pumping quietly at normal rate. I bought this for a hydroponic setup because current pump is submersible only and under powered and all indications are this will be fine for my application. From reading numerous probably unfair negative reviews on a variety of pumps is clear that people don’t understand the concept of head and flow and it is ridiculous that sellers don’t include pump curves in the description. In short, if a pump is described as for example 1,000 max gph and 10 ft max head that means at zero head (impossible to achieve) it will pump 1000 gph and at 10ft head it will pump zero! A pump curve tells you all the in-between points. It isn’t a linear function. Also, 1 ft of head creates 0.433 psi and every fitting, inch of tubing and even bend of tubing consumes head and if tubing is small head is consumed even faster and you’ll never get the performance you expect even if seller is telling the truth so figure out what you need then buy at least one step bigger pump than you think you need.

Odd thread size
Fantastic pump! Plenty of power and extremely quiet. Time will tell but so far great value. Love the variable speeds and digital display. Have it running submerged in my sump pushes plenty of water straight up 5’ through 1” PVC. 300 gallons per hour on setting 7. Odd thread size though. There’s no fitting out there at your local hardware store that will fit it. Not a problem if you use hose or tubing but I wanted to hard plumb it into my existing system. Had to get creative. Used the large hose barb fitting it came with and glued that into the pipe. Works great.

This is the best pump I have used, it is super silent, I have to check the output to make sure its running, installed it yesterday only, will update incase of anything

I was surprise of how quiet that pump can be..the first time of operation I even thought that it was not working..until I realised water was coming out at the other end of the pipe..will definitely recommend this pump..

I used this pump for almost a month now, it is so quiet compared with the 2 other pumps I have purchased before, even those 2 other pumps were also advertised they are quiet products. I have a 200-gallon fish tank set up in my living room, the sump pump is below my fish tank inside the cabinet. The environment is really quiet. After I use this DC-4000 pump, I can't even hear the pump is working, all I can hear is the water running. When I first install it, the pump was set to pulse pumping mode, without the user manual, I can not figure out how to change it to the proper setting. Those setting does not make sense by just look at the controller display. After I read the manual and programmed it to the setting I want, it works perfectly. From time to time, I turn off the power to do the water change, the setting will remain after I power it back on. Overall, just need to read the manual, program to the setting you want, then it works perfectly. I totally recommend it to other users.

Ok, so I'm setting up a additional propagation system and am trying to do it on the cheap. I had very mixed thoughts about this pump, especially given the very mixed reviews. Ordered one to test given the price to flow rate. Here's where I'm at. The initial pump I ordered has been running about about a month no issues. I've since ordered two more. All are running and consistent in performance. I am using them in an IN-SUMP configuration so I can't comment as to the leaking issue others are have mentioned but the overall build quality is surprisingly good. If they are leaking I would imagine it would be slow and likely a crushed or out of place gasket imo. (Straight up guessing) Cons: Flow rate is definitely not "as advertised" I'd say best guess 2750GPH full flow rate. They do not handle head pressure well at all. Take at least an 7-10% performance hit for every 1' of head pressure. I think it's related to a slightly undersized propeller design within the housing. The flow rate is pretty consistent but can go through periods of momentary variations. Small, but enough to notice if you're looking for it. The included intake guard is pretty thin and flimsy, it seems to be holding up but I'd expect to see chunks breaking off within the year. I think that's about it on the negative side. Pros: The inclusion of two full sets of multiple fittings is and multiple gaskets is a nice touch. (An extra housing gasket as well would be even nicer...) The wiring and connectors are solid. The controller is small enough and simple enough. Nothing fancy but variable speed with 20 steps in two modes. Makes fine tuning flow easier. Haven't tested and don't care about the variable whatever pressure mode so I can't comment to it's effectiveness I just care about steady flow which this pump achieves. Oh and dead silent operation, like impressively silent. Also the price... Even at the more realistic flow rate, there is nothing I could find that compared to this pump price to performance. Assuming their customer service is as good as others have said in the comments should I run into issues I'm totally sold on these. It's cheaper to just buy an extra to have on hand at all times then to run multiples of any other return pumps I saw. I will of course update this down the road should anything change.
