Mattel Disney Descendants: The Rise of Red Doll & Playset, The Sorcerer’s Cookbook with Bridget, Young Queen of Hearts, Reveals with Fizz & Slime

This is the second one of these dolls that we have bought. The “closet/book” are well made and bring the doll to another level. Highly recommend for your Descendants fan!

Bridget, the young Queen of Hearts, looks great right out of the box. Her outfit is colorful, whimsical, and very true to the character, and the doll itself is well-made with a nice face sculpt, solid articulation, and good durability for play. The standout feature is definitely the Sorcerer’s Cookbook. It adds a unique twist that makes this set feel more interactive than a typical doll package. Kids will love the way the spells “reveal” themselves through the fizz and slime activities. The fizzing potion effect is especially exciting — it bubbles up with bright color and makes the whole experience feel magical. The slime reveal is another fun touch, and it fits perfectly with the theme of uncovering hidden secrets in a magical book. That said, this playset can get a little messy. The fizz can overflow if you’re not careful, and the slime is exactly what you’d expect — sticky, clingy, and something you’ll want to keep away from carpets and fabric. It’s definitely an activity better suited for a table, tray, or any easy-to-clean surface. Once the magic reveals are done, though, everything else is pretty simple to manage. The accessories included with the set are charming, and the little details in the cookbook really add to the overall play value. Bridget’s outfit and crown are cute, and the doll holds up well during pretend play. The only downside is that the magical elements feel like a one-time event — after the fizz and slime are used for their reveals, the surprise factor disappears. It’s still fun, but the wow moment won’t repeat unless you buy extra materials. Overall, this is a creative, colorful, and engaging set that fans of Descendants will really enjoy. It combines a well-made doll with theatrical, hands-on magic that feels true to the spirit of the movie. A solid 4-star toy that delivers a memorable unboxing experience — just be ready for a little cleanup afterward.

Super fun gift I gave to my goddaughter on her fifth birthday. It was a really fun gift to do together and she loved the doll.

Okay, because this doll is my favorite character of the Rise of the Red movie, I had to get her. I love the cookbook container the doll comes in, with all its floral pink artistic glory. The think the artwork is fabulous. The doll itself is more basic, and has a few accessories (all gold), but is still very pretty. I have not used the ingredients to make both the slime and fizz to "cook up" the spells, so I can't review that portion of the product. I am very happy with this purchase! If you love Bridget, get this!

daughter loved it, even though the part of the dolls clothing that was to change colour in water was not working. otherwise great gift

This doll set was good my daughter enjoyed it she loved making the slime and getting the toy out of the bath salt and the doll she loves the most rise of red is her fav movie

Overall it’s what you see in the picture but it was missing a piece

The doll itself is of pretty good quality in terms of likeness and durability and the added activities kept my kid happy for a few minutes but otherwise it fell a bit flat. She came with very few accessories and the spell book takes up quite a bit of room without adding much to my kid's playtime. Would it have hurt to include the sword the doll is known for?
