These are currently priced at $55 which is a reasonable price for the quality but I have a concern with them. They look great, the wood has a very nice grain and the shiny poly is mostly smooth. The problem is the tread, where you place your boot. Better stirrups have a tread that is wrapped in leather so your foot doesn't slip around. If your foot slips off, best case is you have to regain your balance and worst case you fall off, your foot is caught in the stirrup and you get dragged. Not only is this lacking any grip, it is smooth and slippery with a shiny finish.I understand that there are other stirrups on the market that don't have any grip. It doesn't mean they are safe. I plan to add some grip tape so I can safely use these, especially with the kids. I hope the manufacturer considers adding $5 to the price and adding a strip of rubber grip.
