Well Built But Not For Me
I received this keyboard through the Amazon Vine program to evaluate. I have owned several mechanical keyboards in my life and mechanical is the only way to go for me.I'll start with what I like about this keyboard. While it isn't a super high end case made from metal, it at least feels well built and sturdy. I've tested some of the low end mechanical options and it doesn't feel cheap like some of them do. No loose fitting switches or parts that feel flimsy. It has RGB lighting that you can control by downloading the driver/app from what I assume is their website. You can also adjust some parameters like sensitivity and other basic things, but more on that later. Overall the build quality is good and if you like RGB lighting, it has that too.Now I am not an expert on the vast options for switches available and I am not familiar with the switches that come pre-installed and I couldn't find a reference in any of the literature on what they are. It does come with a tool for removing the keys and switches that works okay and you can swap out the switches and keycaps with relative ease. I've always had a thing for clicky switches. I love the sound and the feel of switches like Cherry MX and other clicky switches. I would not classify these as clicky. They make an audible noise but it's more of a hollow clacking of the keycap hitting the case. If you know what I mean, then you know. But I can't explain it any better than that.My issue is the sensitivity of the switches that come with the board. Now you are supposed to be able to adjust that in the app, but I didn't have any luck really affecting the sensitivity much by adjusting the slider. I tend to be a heavy handed typist and I found myself constantly registering keystrokes that I did not want to make. Especially on the "f" key for some reason. I suppose this issue could be resolved by changing the switches, but while I have no gripes with the build quality, it's not really a case nice enough to warrant spending money to replace the switches for. This is not a bad keyboard for the price (currently $72), but it's just not for me. So keep in mind that my four star rating is based largely on my preferences and not a condemnation of the product or company.
