In the description it says this: The door bell HAS A MUTE MODE to choose from. Thanks to the LED it will still flash when working in mute mode. You will never miss a visitor even in mute mode.

Q: How do you open the remote to access and replace the battery? A few of us tried and felt like the plastic would snap in two. Is there a trick to it?

I see what you mean about how tight the cover is. I just used a narrow flat blade screwdriver to pop up the bottom end (in the notch). That started the removal, but then I had to run my thumbnail down both sides in the crack started at the notch end, and it popped right off.

Q: Do you need Internet?

Internet is not needed. Just plug the piece that plays music into a wall socket. There's a button there and you can choose which sound/music you like best. There's also several volume options and mute if you need to turn the sound off. The doorbell can be hung outside with the sticky piece that's included or with screws. I love it and so do my grandkids! They like changing the music.

Q: My receiver stopped working and doesn’t make a sound when the doorbell is pushed it only flashes light. How do I fixed this?

You have it on mute. While on mute you won't hear it but you will see the flashing light. The purpose of that is to get your attention when someone is at the door for times when you don't want to hear the song playing.
