Keeping It Simple 2018/19: Small Business Bookkeeping, Cash Flow, Tax & VAT

The back of the book says: "you'll know everything you need to know about: small business bookkeeping and accounting". I bought the book to do my own micro ltd accounting and it has 3 pages about limited companies and in the short chapter's summary, it says pay an accountant to do this job.If the writer does not want to share how to do it, why write it in the first place? Why say that the reader will know everything needed for small business accounting? I could just get an accountant and I do not have to read a line about accounting. I am very disappointed.

This book is aimed at the first time business owner and is written in simple English. The layout is easy on the eye making it an easy and enjoyable read. Divided into 9 sections:Section 1 : Basic BookkeepingSection 2: Introducing VATSection 3: How Good Accountants Help a Business GrowSection 4: How to Complete Your Tax Return Without FussSection 5: Accounting for Limited CompaniesSection 6: Everything You Need to Know About VATSection 7: How to Pay Less VATSection 8: How to Increase Cashflow and Boost ProfitsSection 9: Other Issues for the Small BusinessIt gives plenty of examples and case studies to explain each point and is full of tips and how to implement them.My favourite section has to be Section 8 because Cash is King and no matter how profitable a business is, it will fail if it does not have cash. That section alone is worth the price of the book. It is slso up to date touching on issues like making tax digital and selecting and using cloud accounting software.One criticism is that the VAT sections should be grouped together so section 2, 6 and 7 should be consecutive, which in my opinion will make the book flow better but overall, highly recommended.Crystal

This is a very good book that sets out complicated topics in a nice and easy way to understand. I run a small company and thought I was across all the different options. This book allowed me to leverage on further opportunities.
