I bought this board after previous builds with MSI. I have to say that the X870-I isn't value for money at all, despite it being a 'premium' board. The quality of the components on this board leaves a lot to be desired, particularly the headers. For example, one of the ground pins in the USB 5Gbps header was missing before being connected - thankfully that particular ground pin, also known as ID, only sends a signal to the other ground pins, so the port works regardless. BIOS is ok, I suppose. However, Armoury Crate doesn't know what it's doing and at times questions your sanity. Half the time it doesn't recognise changes made in the BIOS, which really wastes time going back into to the BIOS, having sworn blind you selected F10 beforehand. Why on earth ASUS thought it was great to remove audio from the board and put it on the Rog Strix Hive II is anybody's guess. I suppose 'Hive' is ASUS' idea of a bad joke. Not everyone listens to audio/streaming/gaming through headphones. In short, the Hive is a useless magnetic paperweight. I can very well see myself going back to MSI and selling this board on for parts in the not too distant future.

Niet tevreden vertrouwen

Das Mainboard habe ich als Ersatz für ein ähnliches Konkurrenzprodukt gekauft und bin sehr zufrieden. Beim Konkurrenzprodukt war es mir nicht möglich den Realtek WIFI 7 Chip unter Windows 11 und Linux ans Laufen zu bekommen. Das ASUS ROG Strix 870-I nutzt hingegen einen Mediathek WIFI 7 Chip. Der Treiber lies sich unter Windows 11 problemlos installieren und das System läuft stabil. Bei der Installation bzw. Nutzung von Windows 11 ist zu beachten, dass Windows 11 weder WLAN noch LAN des ASUS ROG Strix 870-I von sich aus erkennen kann und einen externen Treiber benötigt. Diesen entweder vorher herunterladen und auf einem USB Stick bereit halten oder alternativ einen USB WLAN Stick für die Dauer der Installation nutzen.

Ich habe das **ROG Strix X870-I Gaming WiFi** gewählt, weil Asus für High-End steht und der Preis das widerspiegelt. Nach zwei Exemplaren bin ich restlos enttäuscht: 1. **Verpackung** Keine Versiegelung – jeder kann den Karton öffnen und Teile austauschen. 2. **Erste Lieferung** Offensichtlich alte Revision: Optik war anders, gebrochener RAM-Slot, fehlendes Kühlpad am unteren NVMe-Port, Kratzer am I/O-Shield. NVME Steckplätze Katastrophe, Musste ich zurückschicken. 3. **Austauschgerät** Schwarzes PCB und teilweise andere Bauweise bei den NVME aber immer noch miserabel! Auch die Rückseite des Mainboards hat jetzt Metallplatten als Verstärkung. Beweis, dass Asus die Schwächen kennt, sie aber weiter ausliefert. 4. **NVMe-Stapellösung = Konstruktionsfehler** Zwei NVME SSDs liegen übereinander, unten sitzt nur ein viel zu dünner Moosgummi-Puffer. Ergebnis: SSDs verbiegen sich, Kontakt zum Kühlblock fehlt, Wärmestau droht. Ohne selbst nachgerüstete Abstandshalter ist ein früher Ausfall vorprogrammiert. Zudem verbiegt bei der alten Revision der Druck der NVME Kühblocks die gesamte Platine darunter! Für über **400 €** erwarte ich ein perfekt durchdachtes Mini-ITX-Board – kein Bastelprojekt. Ich behalte die überarbeitete Platine nur, weil es derzeit keine Alternative mit diesem Funktionsumfang gibt. Mein Rat an Interessenten: Nach dem Auspacken sofort Revision, RAM-Slots, Kühlpads und NVMe-Kontakt prüfen; stimmt etwas nicht, direkt zurückschicken.
