The poly filters work very well they polished your water
The poly filters worked really well. They polished your water to where it’s crystal clear and plus they take some organics out so that your water doesn’t look yellow. I definitely would buy again.

Amazing Product
This stuff has been a game changer in regards to the maintenance of our freshwater tank. My son has a 10 gallon freshwater tank and I was having to change the water every few weeks or change out the filtration substrates every few weeks but one of the staff at the local aquarium shop suggested I use this. I don't know how it works but it filters out harmful chemicals and organic material from your tank and keeps the tank clean for much longer. I place a small strip (1/2 inch thick) of it in the filtration system and change out weekly. It turns color to indicate the filtered contaminate. It's not very expensive and it will last at least a couple of months depending on the size of your tank and filtration needs. fHighly recommend.

Very Valuable!
This filter is fantastic!! I don’t put it in my cannister filter - I just cut a piece off and drop it right in the water in my freshwater aquarium. It works great and helps me buy some time if I need to do a water change but don’t have time to do it right away. I like to use it directly in the water so I can “see” whats going on by the color it turns. I also use it the same way if I need to remove medication. One thing to keep in mind tho is if you’re adding ferts or minerals, the package says to wait 12 hrs before putting it in. I usually only use it before water changes or after meds so don’t have much personal experience about this except that it will remove Seachem Excel if you use it at the same time. I can’t say enough great things about this product. It’s a valuable item to have in my arsenal for my aquarium. Plus Amazon offers it at a much better price than my LFS.

Works Great but Too Expensive
Now the best filter media I have found. I have used it on both salt water and fresh water tanks. It polishes the water perfectly. I’m talking crystal clear. The problem is it doesn’t last long and is way too expensive for regular use. Mine needs t9 be replaced every two weeks or less so isn’t an affordable options for regular use. I do keep some on hand for fish acclimation. If you purchase fish via the mail you can drop a chunk in the bag and it will help with the ammonia that build up during shipping. Of course a few drops of ammonia reducer does the same thing.

Effective, has stood the test of time
I used this product when I had my first reef aquarium 30 years ago, and I'm using it again now since I got back into the hobby. A lot has changed but PolyFilter is still around, that longevity says something. Mostly, it removes excess organics from my system, and I replace it every 3 weeks or so. Before I first started using PF on this new system, I checked my water for metal contaminants by Triton Labs testing. I had some excess tin (traced to some prematurely rusting pump screws), and it appears that PF subsequently removed that as well. It will remove quite a few contaminant metals, such as copper, lead, etc, but not all; for example, it will not remove lithium. Seems to have no effect on desirable cations like calcium, magnesium, potassium, or strontium.

Necessary Shipping Tool!
We use these for shipping our fish. We cut a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch pad with each individually bagged fish. Product works as advertised. It changes color depending on what it is absorbing. Absorbs any toxins that may get in the shipping water. It is easy to do. Especially if the fish have not been fasted and purged of any waste. Other things can get in the water too. I once was cutting aluminum on a power saw then packed some fish to ship. Apparently, an aluminum shaving got in the water. Within minutes the piece of pad had a spot of color on it and I saw it while wrapping the bagged fish to put it in the box. I was able to re-bag the all the fish in new clean water. Every little thing you do is important when shipping fish! Be sure you have the best available products!

Essential product if you have fish.
I have used these for 30 years now. Great for aquarium emergencies when your fish are stressed by poor conditions. Also good when you have been lazy on water changes, or just when you want crystal clear water. A bit expensive, but worth it. You should always have some on hand for when things get bad. Have used in fresh and salt water--works well with both. Color changes to know when exhausted.
