Quality ingredients
Very, very high single-source meat protein with nothing at all unnecessary added. It is expensive and it takes effort to convince your dog that it is, indeed, worthwhile. Our dog wouldn’t touch it for several days (made us feel awful), however he eventually ate some, then a little more and now it is mainstay. He developed a dreadful yeast infection some years ago and the Vet suggested ‘medication and costly shampoos for life’. We suspected food may have contributed to the severity of the infection ( not caused it but certainly exacerbated it). He was, at that time, eating a very high quality dry food with extremely impressive ingredients. But we knew something in the ingredients was a potential cause. We searched to find a food with single protein sauce and very little else. It is surprisingly difficult to find such a food. Most of the foods marketed as such were usually full of potatoes or rice or lots of vegetables and fruits - which sounded very healthy - but not what was needed. We did not want chicken- based protein as even chicken is a potential risk for yeast infections. We found ziwi peak venison - it was worrryingly expensive, I must admit. However the infection has improved immensely and his arthritis seems to be steadier than it was ( again all we got from the vet was a ‘pills for life’ assessment for his arthritis. This food is probably may not appeal to all - especially the cost - but it has been an absolute godsend for us!

A very very big hit
I have a 8 year old German shepherd with allergies to the majority of meats, the only meat he can have is lamb or duck but trying to find food without other animal derivatives in is an utter nightmare to say the least! Usually you'll find in small print there's chicken, turkey, pork or beef derivatives in most foods and treats, i end up buying him vegetarian treats just to be on the safe side. I usually buy him a lamb joint or a duck and cook it for him, I use all the juices and add water & oil then blend it to a paste I then mix a few spoonfuls with his mixer & make sure I coat all of the pieces otherwise he doesn't eat it 😡 At times it can be a real pain in the butt and it's really time consuming too, the other issue is his diet isn't that varied which then leads to boredom of eating the same thing over and over although sometimes I do put herbs in his food for extra taste. He went into the kennels for 3 weeks as my husband and I went on holiday, Boris hardly eats when we're away he tends to go on a hunger strike, this time he was in longer than usual and had lost quite a considerable amount of weight it was shocking so I needed something to build him up quick. I must admit I wasn't sure about getting this food as Boris is quite fussy but I needn't have worried as soon as the bag was delivered he was all over it like a rash, he's got his enthusiasm back for his food and his weight is back to what it was before, plus a few extra pounds 😃👍 his coat is in wonderful condition now he's got the sparkle back in his eyes and his nose is nice and wet he looks so healthy and is most certainly happier. I've just ordered my second bag but I've got the largest bag you can get this time as I've got a feeling I'm going to need it. Seriously if your thinking of giving it a try you won't be disappointed, buy a small bag first like I did but I feel 100% confident you're dogs going to love it, it's worth every penny and I've seen a huge difference in my dog in such a short period of time proving that it's excellent quality, very highly recommended by me and Boris. Update: One thing I forgot mention was Boris's tail was bald part due to allergies and part to stress however as you can see from the photo it's now growing back wonderfully, we're so pleased as all of his coat was thinning out and we were concerned his whole body would end up bald but thankfully his coat has really thickened out too. We're thrilled with the results.

Helped clear our dogs very sensitive skin.
We started using Ziwi after a recommendation for our dogs sensitivity to other dog kibble and treats. This is what we were told:-Ziwi is air-dried food which has no carbs in it, so is much better than a kibble. At first glance, it will seem extremely expensive - but you will use much less of it than a kibble, because it is much more dense, calorie-wise and has no fillers in it. (For eg, our dogs (Labradors) would eat 3 quarters of a cup of kibble, and when on Ziwi, they ate a quarter cup of Ziwi per meal - which is much less than the calculator on the Ziwi website even says.) We took her advice and our Jack Russel loves the food and her sensitive skin has cleared up....bald patches have now disappeared and she has stopped scratching. we also use this as treats and incorporate that into meal times. It is expensive no doubt about that but we will continue to use it for now after getting such great results.

The Raw-Feeder’s Pragmatic View: The Ultimate Enrichment Tool, With One Caveat
As someone dedicated to a providing a vibrant fresh food diet for my dogs, the base for their diet is raw meat and bones. I initially discovered ZIWI Peak Daily Dog Cuisine (Mackerel & Lamb) through the recommendation of Dr. Ian Dunbar. He famously advocates for its use in "lure-reward" training because the tiles are nutrient-dense and easy to portion for high-repetition work. While my dogs’ primary nutrition comes from fresh raw meals, ZIWI has earned a permanent place in our kitchen cupboards as a mindful, long-term solution for training and forage toys. The Raw Feeder's "Utility" Food In 2026, it remains one of the few shelf-stable products that closely aligns with the whole-prey ratios (96% meat, organs, and bone) that we value. Novelty & Motivation: The air-dried texture provides a high-value "novelty factor" that keeps my dogs laser-focused. It is far more enticing than standard processed treats. They smell quite strong, though not obnoxious to me, and my dogs are very enthusiastic about them. Puzzle Perfection: These uniform squares are the best solution I’ve found for snuffle mats and complex puzzle toys that simply can't handle the mess of wet, raw meat. They also work fairly well in the PetCube camera's treat tosser. A Useful Investment: To be clear, the price point means I could never afford to feed this as my dogs' main source of nutrition. However, I consider it a useful investment in their enrichment. I have mindfully purchased these pouches for years specifically to use as high-caliber rewards that don't "junk up" their diet. Essential Peace of Mind: Allergen Transparency One of the most critical factors for me - and something ZIWI excels at - is the absolute transparency of their ingredient list. Because one of my dogs suffers from specific food allergies, I need to know exactly what is in the bag with zero ambiguity. Unlike many brands that hide behind vague terms like "animal derivatives" or "meat meal," ZIWI’s labeling is clear enough that I can confidently exclude specific allergens. This level of honesty is essential for any owner of a reactive or sensitive dog. The Critical Critique: The "Raw" Debate While the marketing labels this as "air-dried raw," I find myself agreeing with the more critical stance of pet health advocate Rodney Habib. Habib argues that the heat and drying process required for safety and shelf-stability effectively "cooks out" the living enzymes and moisture that define a true raw diet. To me, this is an exceptionally high-quality, minimally processed jerky. It is miles ahead of kibble, but it isn't a 1:1 replacement for a vibrant raw bowl. Ethics & Manufacturing Integrity I appreciate ZIWI's commitment to Kaitiaki—the Māori principle of environmental guardianship. Knowing the mackerel is wild-caught and the lamb is 100% free-range is vital. Despite their 2021 acquisition, their recent $100 million investment in a state-of-the-art "Super Kitchen" in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, signals a continued focus on quality control and local manufacturing in 2026. Final Verdict If you are looking for a way to maintain nutritional integrity during training without the mess of raw meat, I highly recommend this. It isn't a budget-friendly primary meal, but as a nutritionally balanced supplementary food, it is unparalleled. It bridges the gap between raw integrity and dry convenience perfectly. Pros: 96% meat, organs, and bone with ethical New Zealand sourcing. Total ingredient transparency; essential for managing canine allergies. Endorsed by Dr. Ian Dunbar; perfect for high-repetition training. The gold standard for clean, mess-free forage toys. Cons: Processing: As Rodney Habib notes, air-drying is a process that alters the "raw" state. Cost: Prohibitive as a standalone diet for many, though worth it as a supplement.

Food of the Dog gods.
I can't get any flavour of this or the ziwipeak wet food in Northern Ireland, so am forced to buy online. It's the second best dog food if notthe best apart from raw I've used.its expensive, yes,but the best is what I want for my two dogs.I think this is it.Just wish I could source it locally. My dogs love all the diff proteins in it,lamb, beef, mackerel &lamb, chicken, venison.Same with the wet tinned version. I reccomend highly.update..... Just got another delivery ,numerous times, but this is the third I've got that was nothing but crushed crumbs. Not impressed!! Not one bit, this stuff is Not cheap.UPDATE:::::: Bought thus and other flavours numerous times ,if it arrives in a box it's all good, if it's in a brown amazon bag,as today's was again,it's mushed up into dust. I did not pay for dust!!! Not happy, I've let this go too many times. Will be looking into it further.

Great for a Picky Eater with a Sensitive Stomach
Our jack russel is a very picky eater who only likes things that could be described as "premium". This certainly ticks that box. He also has a sensitive stomach and this has never, in the six or so years we have been feeding this to him, caused his stomach to become upset. The price may be high, but the quality absolutely matches it. I do not think there is a product marketed as dog food closer to beef jerky than this. It actually smells pretty good when I open up the bag to be fair. I haven't tried, but in a starvation situation I wouldn't be scared to. This product is rare in a sense because you can always find it wherever you go. The formula is the same everywhere you go in the world, as we have gotten the same product in Germany, Japan, and the US as well.

overprice
Great quality product. I use to buy air dry food for my dog. Now price went up, crazy. How it is possible, on Ziwi website it is £141 but Amazon sell for £185. Does anyone control the prices, bad. Glad I found on other website cheaper.
