I absolutely love these snail mucin face masks! They are incredibly hydrating and leave my skin feeling so refreshed and plump. I am a regular user of snail mucin serum for my face. These snail mucin sheet masks seemed like a fun thing to try. I was a little surprised at just how much moisture was in the mask. To be fair, I am not usually a sheet mask user so this may be normal. I had some issues with the excess moisture getting in my eyes so I laid down and closed my eyes. Well, I fell asleep so this sheet mask stayed on for well over the specified time. When I woke up the sheet mask was just slightly damp. My face is very soft and hydrated after using the mask. I used the liquid left in the pouch on my neck, decolletage, and hands. The mask had no strong odors which I appreciate. I believe the eye holes would benefit from being enlarged a bit. Had they been larger I do not believe I would have had an issue with the liquid running into my eyes.

When I see the words snail secretion in skin care I think of South Korea which is why I ordered these Snail Mucin Hydrating Face Masks from baebody. When they arrived I was not much perturbed that they are not made in S Korea, they are from PRC instead. This did not dissuade me as I saw that snail secretion filtrate was the fourth ingredient listed, and this after all, was what I was after. These masks are very saturated with essence and folded in quarters. Thankfully they are fabric, which makes it a little easier to separate the edges apart, but a tiny bit of patience is required. Since they are fabric and very wet, the adhesion with these Masks is excellent. The eye holes were too small so I did enlarge them, but once I put the mask on it stayed in place beautifully. Set the timer for 20 minutes and prepare to relax. Or so I thought, until the itching started. These masks have some wonderful ingredients for the skin including glycerin, aloe, the snail secretion filtrate, sodium hyaluronate, Allantoin and centella. All excellent ingredients for hydration, soothing, diminishing fine lines and fortifying the moisture barrier. I could not account for what was giving my skin trouble. The third ingredient in these masks is propylene glycol. PG is a multitasker as a skin care ingredient, it's a preservative, humectant, helps to thin out thick solutions, helps other ingredients penetrate the skin better, and can help soften and smooth. For all that it is a very controversial ingredient. It's usage in Europe is heavily restricted due to potential health risks and in high concentrations it has been found to be irritating to more sensitive skin. My skin loves all of the ingredients that I listed earlier so I can only attribute the itchiness and irritation to the high concentration of propylene glycol in these masks. These masks sell for about $18 for a package of five and that is a bargain price, but I'd rather pay a few bucks more for some that don't contain PG.
