🦇 "A Brutal Tribute to a Legendary Comeback"
🧠 OverviewThe McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Batman Battle Damage Blue (The Dark Knight Returns) 7-inch Figure – Collector Edition #21 is a visually intense and emotionally charged collectible that captures the raw, unrelenting spirit of Frank Miller’s seminal graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns. This figure doesn’t just depict Batman—it embodies the grizzled, war-torn warrior who emerges from retirement to reclaim Gotham from chaos.📚 The Comic Behind the Figure: The Dark Knight Returns (1986)Written and illustrated by Frank Miller, The Dark Knight Returns is one of the most influential Batman stories ever told. Set in a dystopian future, the comic follows a 55-year-old Bruce Wayne who comes out of retirement to battle crime in a Gotham City overrun by gangs, corruption, and apathy. The story is a gritty, psychological exploration of aging, legacy, and the cost of heroism.Batman in this story is not sleek or graceful—he’s a brutal, imposing force, more tank than ninja. His suit is thick, his movements are heavy, and his face is often bloodied and bruised. The battle-damaged look is a direct reflection of the physical and emotional toll his crusade has taken. This figure captures that essence with stunning accuracy.🧱 Figure Design & FeaturesScale: 7 inches tall, part of the McFarlane Collector Edition line.Sculpt: Incredibly detailed, with visible battle damage—scratches, bruises, torn fabric, and a hardened expression that mirrors Miller’s artwork.Color Scheme: The blue and gray suit is a nod to Batman’s classic Silver Age look, reimagined through the gritty lens of The Dark Knight Returns.Accessories:Alternate head sculptBatarang with ropeFour interchangeable handsLamp post display baseCollector art card with character bio🤸 Articulation & Build QualityUltra Articulation: Features 22 points of articulation, allowing for a wide range of poses—from stoic rooftop stances to mid-battle lunges.Durability: Built with McFarlane’s signature high-quality PVC, the figure feels solid and well-balanced.Display Presence: The included lamp post base adds verticality and atmosphere, making this figure a centerpiece-worthy display item.🎨 Aesthetic & Emotional ImpactThis isn’t just a Batman figure—it’s a visual narrative. Every scar, every torn seam, every grimace tells the story of a man who refuses to quit, no matter the cost. It’s a perfect representation of the philosophical weight of The Dark Knight Returns: that heroism isn’t about youth or perfection—it’s about endurance, conviction, and sacrifice.💲 Value & Collector AppealCollector Edition #21: Part of a limited, numbered series, increasing its appeal for serious collectors.Retail Price: Typically priced around $29.99–$34.99, offering excellent value for the level of detail and accessories included. For Fans Of: Frank Miller, gritty Batman stories, and emotionally resonant superhero narratives.👍 ProsFaithful to Frank Miller’s iconic designBattle damage adds storytelling depthExcellent articulation and sculptingAtmospheric display base includedStrong emotional and visual impact👎 ConsMay be too stylized for fans of modern or animated Batman designsLimited availability due to Collector Edition statusNo cloth cape (some collectors may prefer fabric for posing)🏁 Final ThoughtsThe Batman Battle Damage Blue (The Dark Knight Returns) figure is a powerful tribute to one of the most defining moments in Batman’s history. Wow
A McFarlane exclusive piece. If you're any type of Batman fan, you've read and seen the Dark Knight Returns series by Frank Miller. This is an incredible piece to add to your collection. Excellent price, a really good deal. Vendor shipped in a very good corrugated cardboard package, so it arrived in excellent condition. Detail on it is crazy. McFarlane toys are worth the money for collectors.
