I love this machine, it fills my needs for needing a tablet when commuting on public transit in a big city, and yet still converts to a solid laptop without sacrificing the operating system, no mobile OS here just full blown Windows, as a side note, I have install Bluestacks on it to run my many Android apps flawlessly, so again the best of both worlds. Now I just carry my cell phone and this Sony Vaio. The battery life is great, it lets me power thru a whole day away from home while at work and/or School. I even had it on while surfing and typing away for 7 hours and 15 minutes by then I had drained the battery to about 14%, that for me sealed the deal, no more 2-3 hour laptops for me. I even fired up a couple of games to play when I travel and I am stuck in my hotel. And not just little casual games, I have installed Skyrim (medium settings @ 1280x720), and Batman : Arkham Origins ( 1280x720, 2x FXAA, etc), and NBA 2K14, so yes this can play these great games with my Xbox wired controller, this is a great laptop/tablet!!! So why are people spending hard earned dough on having a Macbook Pro and a iPad, when this does it all and some???? and for a lot less when compared to buying the Mac and iPad. I love this laptop, it has great style, lightweight, and its a great road-warrior. I always get asked for more info when they see me using it, at work, school, bus, people are amazed by this Ultrabook, I know I am still! You will not be disappointed, even with the small mousepad, I got used to the small size, and that is my only complaint!! **Update** I have seen many people complain about the WiFi issues and Bluetooth, I have yet to see any issues with this. I have upgraded my Ultrabook to Windows 8.1 Pro, but before I did, I went to Sony.com/support and upgraded the many device drivers including the BIOS to the latest version prior to updating to Windows 8 Pro first then Windows 8.1 Pro as so recommended by Sony. Please read and do some research before attempting any upgrades, this will always save you any headaches in the long run, and you will be very pleased with the purchase of the phenomenal machine. Too many people do not research/prepare and are quick to dismiss something as the manufacturers fault. ***UPDATE the drivers including the BIOS before upgrading to 8.1, it fixed many of the previously mentioned WiFi and Bluetooth issues*** And like most manufacturers, I also removed the bloatware that came per-installed before the upgrade as well, including Kasperkey. If you do not wish to download each driver separately from Sony.com/support, you can use the per-installed utility called Vaio Update, and let it download and install the drivers till it states that the machine is fully updated and there are no more updates to install. Hope this helps and lets you enjoy this fantastic machine.

When I first got this item, I was over the roof with happiness, the build is simply beautiful, though durability may be an issue (I've always kept mine at home, so no issue for me). I can confirm my Wifi is very weak, weaker than iPhone 3GS, and that is something earlier reviewers have commented on already. The software troubles are endless though, (1) bluetooth does not work out of the box, well, I went to sony website to download the broadcom driver, voila, after 2-3 restarts it started working well (2) if I try to install anything, it takes a long time before the install screen appears; could be an issue with virus checking by the Kaspersky trial, I don't know. But my friend's version, which is exactly the same laptop ordered from Microsoft store, has much faster reaction time in this respect. Even after all the trouble, I'd still give this laptop a 3-4 stars; the deal breaker came when I upgraded to Windows 8.1 (1) bluetooth stopped working again... no no not again, this time, even after all the fixes, I can't connect to my Creative Air HD (2) keyboard backlighting stopped working, which doesn't seem have any fix even I as searched the internet and contact sony support by chat I'm going to try to send this laptop back to Amazon. Key lesson here: DON"T UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 8.1!!

I have been waiting for Sony to come out with a Windows based tablet. It is a great computer. I purchased it for my daughter for college and she says it does everything she needs it to. The touch responsiveness is great and she is loving Windows 8. The Sony also comes with a digitizer pen which was a big part of why we purchased this computer.

I had great delivery from seller. However "Y" key went bad and hard drive CRASHED. Sent back to Sony repair and they replaced hard drive, fan and repaired keyboard. Unfortunately this is the 3rd (TV, 3-laptops )product I've purchased from Sony in past few years and ALL three went bad. I have admired Sony products since I was a child because my Father (deceased) always purchased and loved SONY. I will have to give it very serious considerations before purchasing Sony products going forward because it appears QUALITY has fallen quite a bit!

I bought this convertible here at amazon and about 4 months later it just quit working I sent it to Sony for repairs they said it not covered because there are non sony parts inside of it. And I know for a fact that it has never been out of my sight or had anything put inside the computer. All I do is turn them on and use them. So either Sony's technician is a liar or I was sold a used computer. Perhaps that is how Sony structures their bonus program to their employees, for how many warranties they can void to save sony money. It makes me sick. and by the way when you call sony you get passed around for 2 weeks and each one transfers you to somewhere else. Sounds like india to me. anyways it is hard to understand them when you are talking to them I am done with Sony products.
