I purchased the Babepai Retractable Baby Gates Extra Wide | 55" Wide x 38" Tall Dog Gates for Stairs | Indoor/Outdoor Use because our Miniature Aussie refuses to stay off of our bed. I didn’t want a regular door style gate that was always in the way or one that had to be put up and taken down any time we needed to use it. I found this and thought it would be perfect. It absolutely has too! I love that you just mount it to one side of the door frame and mount the latch on the other door frame. Anytime you need to gate the door, just pull the gate out and latch it to the other side. The fabric is thick but still can make out shadows on the other side so your pet knows you’re still there and they aren’t all alone. The gate itself is very well built and easily keeps your pet/child out of areas they don’t need to be in. The gate itself slides easily in and out of its frame and takes just seconds to open/close. Overall it’s the perfect gate for us and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something that works well and still aesthetically pleasing.

This soft gate is easier to use than a metal one. The metal fence stays in place all the time and you have to be careful not to trip over it. This one rolls out only when you need it and goes away when you don’t, keeping the space open and safe. The sturdiness yet to be proven, though.

4.5/5 Stars – Durable and Reliable for Toddler Safety, with One Small Annoyance We bought this Babepai extra-wide retractable gate (the 55” wide version) to block off our living room and kitchen areas, and it’s been a real lifesaver with our active 1-year-old. Great product overall—super durable and built to last. The mesh is strong, the frame feels solid, and it holds up well to daily use (pushing, pulling, our toddler leaning on it). It totally helps keep her safe at all times, giving us peace of mind when she’s exploring or we’re busy in another room. No worries about her wandering into unsafe spots. Installation was straightforward—easy to mount with the provided hardware (no major drilling needed for our setup), and it’s simple to use day-to-day: just pull to extend, and it retracts smoothly when not needed. The extra width is perfect for our wider doorways and hallways. The only flaw we’ve noticed is the button to release the gate—it tends to hang up or stick a bit as it’s used more, making it slightly harder to open quickly sometimes. A better, smoother button/latch design would make this product even more perfect and serve it some real justice. That said, it’s a minor issue compared to how well it performs, and we’re still happy with the gate overall. Would definitely recommend it for parents needing a versatile, sturdy retractable option. Great value for the safety it provides!

Strong, easy to use and great quality. We are using this safety gate for our cargo lift.

First off you will need a drill to install. It took my husband maybe 30mins to install it. Its easy to open and close. It replaced or old one that was a metal gate and such a pain. I like the color its a light gray. Also a plus our little dog can't get past it either nor can my granddaughter. The cost wasn't bad at all for what you are getting. When its retracted it takes up very little space.

Overall it is a good gate other than the locking mechanism. The gate mounts nice with the adjustable bottom mount so you can get it above the trim. The retraction is nice and it’s easy to pull out and lock. Super easy to mount. The only downfall is the way it locks. The sliding button gets stuck open all the time. It’s very frustrating when trying to move along, or even when not in a hurry and I’m digging my finger in, pushing down in all directions, doing anything to get the thing to move. FRUSTRATING! Enough for me to come on and review it. I love the gate style but will definitely pick a different one that has a different locking mechanism next time.

Super easy to install and works good. It latches great so no one can get through and the latch never is hard to get . It’s pretty sturdy . We use it for our baby and she can not get through or climb it however after a few months of use it does seem to be getting stretched or loosened at the top . But over all it does seem ok esp for the price since the wooden ones are similar priced it’s not that heavy so easy to install
