If you have ever gotten grease on your leg or pants by brushing up against your trailer ball, then you need this. I've had other caps in the past, made of thinner rubber with a narrow bottom. Those worked, but the design caused some grease to get scraped off during install and end up on the outside of the ball cover, defeating the purpose. They also had a tendency to keep the grease inside the cover after removal, meaning more grease had to be added back to the ball. They were also hard to clean out due to the narrow opening at the bottom.These covers solve those problems. First, the design of the cup prevents the bottom edge of the cover from contacting the ball in a way that scrapes grease to the outside of the cover. The bottom edge is wide and flat, and the opening is only slightly small than the widest part of the ball, so no or very little grease gets scraped off, and stays under the cap. Second, the inside of the cup has ribs, so only a minimal amount of contact is made between the cover and the ball, and grease stays where is should.The covers fit snugly, and I also found that these work on 1 7/8" balls as well, and also seem like a snug fit, so I can cover both ball sizes that I commonly use. Well worth the price!
