Nice inexpensive loupe.
I got this loupe to examine my fountain pen nibs to ensure they were properly aligned. For that purpose this does a great job. The 30x magnifier is much easier to use than the 60x, which is normal for this kind of magnification; using a loupe takes some getting used to.For amateur use, and considering the price of well under $10, I think this loupe is a very good buy. I can confirm that the battery lasts awhile, because I accidentally left the loupe extended overnight, which meant the light was on the whole time, and the next morning it still shone brightly. The loupe has two light modes - white and a blueish LED. I think the blue has something to do with verifying the authenticity of currency, but I can't say for sure. There is a switch to select which light, but there is no on/off switch. If the loupe is open, one of the lights is on. Also, I'm pretty sure the lenses on this loupe are plastic, not glass.

Not happy with this item
Just not what I expected. Very small made with cheap, cheap plastic. It does not work well at all. The clarity is no good.

Difficult To Install Lanyard➖Uses 3 Small Button Batteries
This arrived from the vendor in a little generic box with the light device covered with a plastic sleeve. It had a lanyard already & an instruction sheet in the box & button batteries installed. Its operation is simple, slide it open & it lights up. You can choose a white or purple light, the purple helpful to check currency markings. To install the lanyard is a nightmare (probably really a 2 person job), & if the batteries dislodge better hope you can read the instructions because the case markings are of no real help.Otherwise, it’s very compact & useful to grab & look at rings & stones. Nice to have 2 kinds of light you can choose from once it is pulled open to reveal the switch.Replacement batteries might cost more than replacing the whole device, but I prefer batteries to rechargeable units which once they fail to charge you have little choice but to replace the whole unit.

Great device, wish the light switch was better.
This handheld loupe magnifier is a pretty useful tool at a great price. It comes with two LED lights, a white one and a UV light, that automatically turn on when you open the loupe. You can switch between them with a simple flip switch, which is pretty convenient. One thing that could be better is the light control. There’s no way to turn the lights off without removing the battery. You can avoid the light by not sliding the loupe all the way out of its case, but it would be nice if the switch had an "off" option. On the plus side, the image through the lenses is clear, with good eye relief and a comfortable working range. The case is super secure, so it won’t accidentally pop open, but if you need to change the batteries, you can get in with a flathead screwdriver. It’s a solid loupe magnifier with great optics and useful lighting, even if the light control could be a bit more flexible.

It works but!
The light is not very good because of how it is placed. It is easy to not pull the lenses out all the way so the light doesn't turn on. I found it much better to use another light source if needed. The 60x lens does work, but it is not of much use because of the quality of the image, and the need to hold everything very steady. The 30x lens is much better, but I found my 10x glass loupe has better image quality. The 30x does provide more detailed information.

awesome tool!
I collect fountain pens and sometimes I can't tell what's going on with a nib when it's acting up. I had seen people mention using loupes to inspect the nibs for uneven tines or other issues.I found this and thought it would work well.It was a bit confusing at first, because I've never used a tool like this before. I initially held it too far back, and the images were not that magnified and they were backward. After reading another review, I realized you need to get quite close, and then things become quite clear and appear properly oriented. This takes a bit of effort - I had to slowly move it closer and then back and forth a bit to get objects in focus. However, once they are in the right location, this works great. It gives a clear picture of things up close and I could see so much detail in the fountain pen nibs that was not at all visible without this tool.I was able to see a very tiny hair that was stuck between the tines of a nib that had not been flowing well and get it removed, significantly improving the pen's flow.I like that this comes with a little light to help illuminate whatever needs magnifying and I like that it just closes back up into the case when not in use, so the lenses are unlikely to get dirty or damaged. It's very compact and convenient and I think the price is quite reasonable!

Be Careful When You Order Products
When I came across this magnifier on Amazon, all I remember seeing was the title, which read, "30X Loupe Magnifier, LED Power Indicator Hand-held Magnifier". I thought this would be great, as so many things like product instructions, are so tiny, I can't see them. This would solve that problem, and also be easy to carry around. Had I paid more attention to the title on the box that was shown on the left side of the ad, I would have read, "Currency detecting", and "Jewelry Identifying Magnifier". And that was in small print. If you read the rest of the article, this is not really mentioned. It's a nice tiny unit, with a great light, but reading anything with it, at least for me, is almost impossible.

Basic little magnifier for whatever small things you need to look at
Both lenses work, the 30x and the 60x. Occasionally the led light does not work when you open the device. It's not a high end unit to be sure. Basic, affordable and it works most of the time.
