Doesn't actually look like the Flying Scotsman
This was bought as a Christmas present my be 90+ year old Mother because she knows I like the Flying Scotsman. I did as a kid, but I still do like model locomotives in general. I did thank her for it as it is the thought that counts but it is an abomination. The proportions of the model are all wrong, the boiler is too large in diameter compared to the chassis, the buffer beam is foreshortened, the main driving wheels are too small and with the lack of a coupled tender this destroys the aesthetic of the original locomotive. The plint is far too tall and looks like a coffin. Bradford Exchange claim that this was done in conjunction with the National Railway Museum which I find hard to believe looking at the finished article. I'm also annoyed that my Mother spent over £100 on what is one of the first 100 issued.
