I teared up several times reading this beautifully-written memoir by Jennifer Jones Austin. Ms. Austin brings the reader along on a heartfelt spiritual and human journey, honestly sharing her struggles and insights with the reader. I don’t usually read memoirs but, as one of the 13,000 people who swabbed to increase the donor banks, even though I knew I wouldn’t likely be a match, I wanted to read more about what she had gone through. I was amply rewarded by this glorious book. Jennifer Jones Austin’s survival was one of the best feel-good stories of the decade. I highly recommend this book.

If you are in a struggle, any kind of struggle, then I recommend reading Consider It Pure Joy for true encouragement. The book reads like a best-selling novel. You will experience every type of emotion, as the author details week by week and season by season her amazing journey. Mrs. Austin bravely, yet humbly keeps it real in the retelling, all the while testifying to this truth: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

This book is the perfect gift for anyone going thru something both difficult and challenging and feeling anxious that they will not make it to the other side- its a page turner filled with hold your breath moments and unimaginable fear that slowly but surely causes tears of joy and confirms that there is indeed a God who has powers and abilities beyond our comprehension.

Jennifer tells the story of her journey through the hell of cancer but with God by her side as the mighty strengthener and lifter of our heads, she came through joy-filled and victorious. Such a well-written story...I felt as if I had been there as it all unfolded. This book is a wonderful source of encouragement and inspiration for all.
