I have two large dogs (over 50 pounds) that occasionally fight a few times a year. This was safe to use to get them to stop when I’m by myself. 4 stars instead of five because my German shepherd did turn and bite the stick the first time and the metal actually bent. So I think the metal could be sturdier quality but it’s effective.

I bought this to deter unrestrained dogs (and their owners) from attacking me and my dog. Thankfully, I haven't needed since it arrived so the five stars are based on the VERY long battery life.

Worked well when we first bought it and 3 months later it STOP working! We charged it and only thing that works is the poor lit flash light. It’s not worth the money and hassle. I don’t recommend it, it’s a waste of my money.

Somewhat recently we have had coyote sightings just outside of our neighborhood. My wife likes to walk our dog but is afraid of being attacked. While this is unlikely to occur it eases her mind having it. It’s non-lethal and extends over 3 feet. It’s also well made and easy to have ready if needed.

Needed something to prevent dog fights among my critters and to stop a pig that is a bully to his sister. Have never had to use it yet as just the zapping sound is enough to get their attention. The light is nice and the extension ability to pack away in smaller space. Rechargeable so no changing batteries
