Loads of helpful info. Good quality book

I love how each type of embroidery is given its own part in this book. Lots of illustrations as well as instructions about how to get the best results from experts in each area. Has helped my embroidery a massive amount!

A great book and was brought for a gift which was well received

This is a great and informative book for embroidery lovers. There is a good section on how to use frames, and finally framing your work that I found useful. With information of different types of embroidery, stitches with instructions, it also has historical information which is really interesting to read about. There are some lovely examples of the embroidery types which gives much inspiration and ideas for projects of your own.

Very wide ranging in techniques covered - not overly complicated but precise introduction to needlework. Please note that there are few if any templates. Overall it is very good, particularly for a hardback book of this size.

I had been looking at some of the RSN courses and had read some reviews. I decided that if I bought this book and worked through some of the projects, I would be ready for a course. The book is absolutely beautiful and will be used frequently. I am very glad i purchased it. The index highlights Crewelwork, Silk Shading 5 and Goldwork all have 5 projects and Whitework has 3. I figured working through 18 rojects would up my skills level somewhat. However, with the excpetion of the Silk Shading Section all the projects are shown in completed form. There are no templates. On first reading I wanted to start with project 1 Tree of Life - however, this is a description of the project, stitches and the finished piece. No wool colour notes etc. I am not sure if you could buy a kit for this, but as the book is intended to improve skills this seems to be a detriment, hence the 4 star and not 5 star review.

Too advanced for me. No basic sewing technique to learn from this book

Książka jest bardzo gruba, ma świetne zdjęcia pokazująca różne ściegi i techniki haftu oraz przykłady ich zastosowania. Książka podzielona jest na działy- crewelwork, blackwork, whitework, silk shading, stumpwork, bead embroidery, canvaswork i goldwork i każdy z tych działów jest bardzo dokładnie opisany. Ksiazka jest piękna i jak najbardziej nadaje się również na prezent.

I just got this book and had a look through. I love that it includes little blurbs about the history of different kinds of needlework. The breakdown is great, the examples seem thorough, and the picture quality is excellent. It’s a great resource book, and I’m really glad I bought it

J'ai acheté ce livre précédent, je l'ai offert à quelqu'un qui le feuilleté chez moi, et donc je l'ai racheté tant il est riche .Une encyclopédie et un excellent livre pour apprendre les différents points, et techniques de la broderie. De plus il est richement illustré en photos et illustrations pour expliquer les points.
