View largerDeath LivesDarksiders II follows the exploits of Death, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, in an action-packed tale that runs parallel to the events in the original Darksiders game. This epic journey propels Death across an expansive gameworld as he tries to redeem his brother, War, the horseman blamed for prematurely starting the Apocalypse in Darksiders.Like the original Darksiders game before it, the second game in the series is primarily a hack 'n slash adventure. The game takes place across netherworld environments, including "The White city," an outpost where angels live, and "The Eternal Throne," a floating fortress where the Lords of the Dead stand guard over souls that need to be cleansed. Although Death is the most feared of the Four Horsemen, his physical abilities are very different than his brother, War. Death is far more nimble, and relies on a combination of melee and ranged attacks. In combat Death's primary weapon is his huge iconic scythe, with a wide range of other weapons and usable items that must be gathered as the game progresses. Weapons can be dual-wielded, upgradable armour can be acquired for protection and Death has access to a terrifying and powerful pale mount.Key Game FeaturesBecome the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen, able to destroy entire worlds and battle forces beyond Heaven and HellExplore startling gameworld environments reminiscent of heaven and hellCustomise your experience with varied armour sets, weapons, and skill trees allowing players to create their own DeathExplore a vast open world, complete dozens of side quests and customise your Death with a full leveling system, skill trees and endless equipment combinationsDeath is a nimble and agile character capable of incredible acrobatic feats allowing the player to explore the world like never beforeArgul’s Tomb DLC pack offering extra gameplay content, including a whole new dungeon to explore, further extending the Darksiders II experienceAdditional Screenshots Nimble and agile navigation. New Game, New Horseman!
Darksiders2 takes place during and after the events of the first game. War, one of the horsemen of the appocolypse, is charged and imprisoned for bringing about the destruction of mankind before its time. His brother death sets out to help clear his name.Darksiders 2 sees many new additions added to its already great formula. This is a very different game from its predercessor. The obvious new addition is the change in protaganist, Death is a lot different to War in many ways. War was a lumbering pain machine who's attacks where slow but dealt massive damage and relied heavily on blocking. Death is agile, he can't block and so relies heavily on dodges and his attacks are lighting quick. The graphics are superb, the worlds feel alive and the colours in this game are amazing! Some texture pop in ut nothing serious. The worlds in darksiders 2 are extremly varied, from the forge lands to the dead kingdom, all have their own distinctive enemies and colour pallettes which make them a pleasure to explore. Death has access to his horse Despair from the start so traveling is made fast and enjoyable.A new loot and leveling up system has been implemented. XP is rewarded for completing quests which can be used to level up and skills points gained to gain skills. There are two skill trees, Harbinger and necromancer. Both provide different ways to play, harbinger is all about increasing weapon damge where as necromancer allows you to summon ghouls or a murder of crows to help you out in fights. There are sidequests to complete which provide you with XP and loot. There are tonnes of weapons on the game, all have differing stats and abilites. Ther is nothing quite like opening a chest and getting a rare weapon as all loot is random and no persons character the same. Armor can be looted and changed to give various buffs and stat increases. The games platforming and puzzle sections are varied and never become tiring. Some will have you scracthig your head but not to the point where you get frustrated. This game like the frst has amazing boss battles that are truly memorable. The story is well written and the voice acting is top notch.THE. VERDICTImproves in every way over the first game and that's saying a lot as the first game was brilliant. There is some loading mid level but that is only because the game is so big and its never for long. Fantastic!P.S, I have not incountered the glitches the 1star reviews have stated and I have played for over 30hours

Better than the first
I enjoyed the first game, but I didn't complete it - too many boss battles. I hate boss battles, they always feel cheap making you jump through hoops to defeat a specific enemy. That being said I liked the premise and the bits between the boss battles were good fun.Thankfully in this sequel the boss battles are far less annoying which meant I got to see the end, which was nice :-)The game continues from the previous one, although this time it's Death as the main character. He's trying to save his brother War who is being condemned for his actions in the first game. To save his brother Death must save humanity who have been wiped out by the apocalypse. This leads Death on a quest to find a way to restore mankind. The story isn't great, but it's well told with some stylish cutscenes and gravelly voices. The game itself is a standard hack and slash affair. Loot gains you more weapons and armour to improve your stats, you can earn experience to level up and gain new abilities. Fairly standard stuff, with some simple platforming thrown in.In summary it's a solid, if not particularly inspired game, fun to play, but not especially memorable.

Buyers beware. DS2 is a buggy broken mess.
I have never written a product review but I feel I have to warn anyone who is thinking of purchasing Darksiders 2. I encountered a game breaking glitch. Weird sound issues. Random crashes and save file corruption. I am aware older consoles might have an issue but I was using a new 360 250GB slim unit. The first encounter was a "game breaking" glitch in chapter 5 or 6 about 5-6 hours into the game, in which you ride these robots "contructs" and you can easily get them stuck on the walls, on rocks, or even better, through the floor! If you happen to stumble upon this nasty glitch (which is a pretty wide spread problem from what I have read online) like I did, and your game decides to auto save (which it does very often) over the one save file you are given (no manual saves in DS2) then you are pretty much screwed and have to start the whole game over again since they are needed to progress the story. The second one I found is far worse. I started over again and progressed near to the end of the game and encountered something which made me so angry (another wide spread problem from what I have read) I had to write this product review to warn others about this piece of crap game. I was about 23 hours in and the game decided to crash (which it had done at least 10 or so times during my time with it) which I did not think anything of until I tried loading it up again and it would crash on the load screen. Hmmm this odd? I turned the console off and on again and it crashed again on the load screen. I tried once more and the same thing happens again. Great! My save file is now corrupt! Awesome!Nice one THQ/Vigil Games! I wont feel bad selling this turd of a game now which will deny you a future sale. Oh and this game was delayed 2-3 months for extra pollish?!?! hahaha what a complete joke.Beware. Game is a buggy mess. AVOID!
