I always find assembling Lego sets to be therapeutic. As is their custom, the instructions are divided into sections with corresponding numbered bags of pieces so that you don’t need to dump everything out and search the entire set for a part. The steps are clearly drawn in small enough increments without ambiguity, making it fun and easy to build. In this case, it was for my 5-year-old son who is obsessed with construction machinery, and it was a great project for us to work on together. He loves the finished product! The treads work well, the swivel works as expected, and the shovel is well designed and functional (has to be worked directly by hand - this isn’t a Technic set). Another satisfying Lego product.

This is a great kit- I thoroughly enjoyed every stage of construction. I think the thing that was the coolest for me was the attention to detail that was put into the engine- it's accessible and easily removeable. It also looks great; I'm not a fan of decals, and quite honestly the model looks good with them or without them. The long and the short of it is this: it's a lot of fun to build, and has a lot of play value after it's built.

I absolutely love it and I’m sure your kid would as well. Wish I had these style of builds growing up and when I saw them released I knew I had to have them. The build is sturdy and easy to put together. It would be a perfect birthday or Christmas gift and when on sale is a good value for what you get in return. I bought this on Amazon for around 45 but then found it at Target for 30 which as amazing.

Got this for my significant other, we both love it! Perfect size, lots of pieces for a great price. Instructions are clear and easy to understand. It was a lot of fun to build. You can even swing the arm!

The excavator’s arm actually works great for scooping, and the build feels sturdy enough for daily use. Perfect for any child who’s obsessed with construction vehicles. A great addition to the LEGO City lineup.
