Worth every single penny
Excellent product, loved it — feels so premium cause it is lol. If you got the budget definitely a worth it. Sound is just amazing, and it's really simple to use just plug in and you are good to go. It got pretty long wire so you can't go wrong with that either, and lastly it has a dept of sound which you can't get with a cheap headphone for sure. Would love to get more products form audio technica soon such a brilliant product

Good quality headphones for home studio and listening to music.
So far so good. The pachage arrived inside a larger than necessary box (It's a good thing for safety). It was a sealed pack. The headphones scream quality. The cables, the headphones - everything is of top notch quality. One of the best purchases in a long time. But if it's hot or humid, the closed back design may start to feel uncomfortable. Sound quality is excellent. Was thinking of buying the M70X, but settled for this M50X - only because of the foldable design and detachable cables.

Industry standard for a reason!
TLDR Better than the M40x for critical work in the sense that it is more revealing and arguably more accurate. What that essentially means is that there's nothing better than the M50x under ₹20k. The better beyerdynamic ones are more expensive than 20k. Just friggin get it. I don't think with the increased price of the M40x (at the time of writing the review it's selling for about 9k) the M40x is a good value anymore. Also, get the brainwavz sheepskin pads. Stock pads are trash. Skip to the end for the scores. Sidenote, amazon really ruined the packaging in the delivery process. On top of that, it was just lying there in the so-called “final destination” hub that’s like 5km from my home for 4 days. The amazon packaging as well as the M50x box got absolutely wet and wrecked. Really disappointed, Amazon (it was Amazon Transportation Services, mind you). This however is also a testament to the built quality of the headphones as they were in perfect condition despite the heavy beating the packaging received, and hence won’t be returning them. I just don’t have the time to wait another month for amazon to replace the thing. I need to get my work done. SOUND Alright down to business now. If accurate is the word you're looking for, you've come to the right place. The M50x has excellent reproduction and it's immensely revealing. More so than the M40x. The sound stage is wide for a closed back headphone. The major improvement over the M40x would be the excellent imaging which was quite mediocre in the M40x. Instrument separation is excellent as well. Even the most intricate producing trickeries that most headphones in this price point can’t even reproduce become crystal clear. If you’re upgrading from something cheaper or the dreaded skullcandy or beats headphones, you’ll be surprised how much you were missing out on. If frequency response graphs are anything to go by, M50x is supposed to be more flat compared to the M40x but to my ears, the M50x seem to have a very slight emphasis on the lows. I was surprised to see that Audio-Technica has done away with the foam sheets that they used to put in between the driver and the earpad and actually tweaked the driver design, which is a good thing. You don’t have to worry about the thin foam sheets while changing pads. Not having to rely on those is always a good thing. I didn’t notice any drastic change in the sound quality with the change in pads. Perhaps slightly better sound stage. BUILD AND COMFORT With the stock pads, the comfort isn’t anything to write home about. But it’s not bad. The pads are still pleather so they’ll last 2 years at most, though it does depend on how rough you use them. I already had the sheepskin pads from my M40x, which recently broke. Not the headphone’s fault. A certain person had borrowed them from me for a few days and he managed to break the thing somehow, at an age of 4 years. Rest in Peace, my dear M40x. Ah, right. The M50x. Excellent build quality, mediocre comfort with the stock pads. With almost any pad, it’ll get hot and sweaty during summers unless you’ve got everything air conditioned. The clamping force is a bit high but not uncomfortably so. It WILL loosen up a bit with time and become really comfortable. The folds and turns feel solid and the fold-in mechanism is satisfyingly clicky. The bottomline is I wouldn’t worry about it breaking on me unless I was a very rough user. If you’re one of those, you need some industrial construction equipment, not the M50x… or loads of cash to buy spare headphones. The top layer of the pleather does tend to wear off though, but it’s universally the case for all pleather. Not a big issue. Once it starts happening, just take half an hour to peel all of it off. The bare grey Velor kinda material looks way sleeker in my opinion. SCORES Sound: 9/10 Comfort: 7/10, 9.5/10 with the pads replaced Build: 9/10 Soundstage: 7/10 Imaging: 9/10 Separation: 10/10 Sound isolation, passive: 7/10, 8/10 with the pads replaced.

4 stars - high quality headphones, an ideal upgrade from tinny in-ear monitors
Honestly curiosity got the better of me with this one. The MOST talked about headphones on the Internet whether you love em or hate em. So I had to get one. And I love the customisation options including skins and wraps for A-T headphones. Takes me back to my college days that were a long long time ago. If you like bright sound with strong punchy bass and are looking to upgrade to good quality headphones this is the one to get. TBH these are not as flat as claimed to be but have a distinct V shaped FR curve. There's nothing much I can add to what has not been already said here and elsewhere on the 'net. But if you are looking at a great full size headphone upgrade from a crappy set of in-ears included with your mobile phones this is the one to get. Best of all it comes with 3 different cables for you kind of use. I find the 3 meter coiled cable best for me. Sound - 4 stars, bright, revealing punchy and at ear piercing. Coming from the world of Sennheisers audiophile grade headphones I felt someone was poking a needle in my ear drum. I winced and gave them time to run in and open up which they did. These are studio monitors after all. They sound good with rock, pop and EDM. Not so much with Jazz and instrumental/classical. Not a set of cans I will use for day long listening because they cause ear fatigue. Sound stage is limited. But to be fair these cans aren't meant for home use although that is precisely what most owners use them for. Construction - 4.5 stars. Plastic with a steel headband. They look hardy and should last a long time even if given a few knocks. Well constructed like other M series pro monitors. Comfort - 2 stars, I have medium-large ears and they squeeze into ear pads but only just. The ear lobes are pinched and cause pain. Replacing the ear pads with after market pads affects the sound in varying degrees. So tread carefully here. I bought Brainwavz memory foam pads just in case. All in all a good start and introduction to the world of A-T pro monitor headphones. And now this has a place in my collection. But I can at best give them 4 stars overall and I am being generous here. There are better choices in the world of A-T headphones. If you can pony up about 50% more, look at the M50xBT for a similar sound signature with smoother sound, better comfort and the convenience of wireless operation. Or best of all, get the M40x for more at a marginally lower price, comparatively balanced sound but with a compromise on comfort. One word of caution - A-T's customer support is non existent in India. I emailed them via their site enquiring about ear pads and have not received a response. Not an encouraging sign IMO.

It justifies the hype.
Best among the ones I’ve tried. Far better than the AKG K702, which costs twice as much. Amazing clarity and good, thumpy bass without being overpowering. Overall, it justifies the hype.

Built like a tank!
Absolute powerhouse. I’ve been waiting for a reason to buy a second pair, but my original set refuses to give up—even after a full decade of daily use. That isn't a typo: 10+ years and they’re still going strong. Other than occasionally replacing the ear pads, they have required zero maintenance. Hands down the best price-to-performance ratio you can find.

They sound fantastic connected to an external DAC on my PC. Great for music and gaming. Honestly the best headphones I've ever worn. Hopefully will last years.

Let me start off with a disclaimer that I am rather severely hard of hearing (require good hearing aids to hear well...ish) caused by a bout with bacterial menigitis as a toddler, so take the following review for what you will. General Summary: With these, I can hear/feel bass, I can now (occasionally) hear things I couldn't hear before (eg: cymbals/high-hats on drums) and similar sounds (although my headphones are in the dangrously loud range of 85-90db+ range when I do so). Volume is not an issue with these by any means as I can actually turn them up to be loud enough to hurt my ears and force me to turn it back down (though I rarely ever have it that loud as my hearing is damaged enough as is lol). For music: The bass has will actually vibrate my headphones when turned up despite not having EQ tuned more towards bass (it's pretty flat which is another bonus as it gives you a better baseline for EQ control). I can hear certain things I never could before such as things in the "back of the mix", faint adlibs, subtle sounds such as cymbals and hi-hats on drums. For Gaming: Clarity is incredible and I have slightly more situational awareness when in games (though I still miss some things due to my hearing issues). Volume & sound feels rather "full" to me as well. I rarely ever have volume/sound issues in games with these headphones. For movie/video (youtube, netflix, etc): Outside of really soft speaking/whispering, I have absolutely no issue with hearing everything rather clearly (aside from added effects such as distortions of course, but I can barely understand that to begin with due to hearing). Even with distortions though, I can actually hear and understand it a little better than I have ever been able to with any other headphones I've ever used, personally. My previous headset was a Logitech Artimis which was surprising how good it was and until I got these, the Artimis headsets were the best I've ever used (though gaming focused)... Now? Sorry Logitech, but these are even better, however, with that said. Both are surprisingly affordable for their quality and neither use the dreaded "in-line controls" which always the weakest point and when that goes, the headphones stop working so any headphones without in-line controls will always be viewed far more favorably by me in durability... Speaking of... Durability: I've dropped these countless times (by accident... butterfingered klutz problems lol). Have accidentally "kicked" them, pulled a little too hard when there was not enough cord, and other various, minor mishaps common from daily use and they are still working fine with 0 issues or any actual damage. I have one minor gripe although I think that has more to do with my glasses (or me) than with the headphones and that is that sometimes I can't seem to make them sit comfortably on my head, but rotating the cups a little seems to help though it still takes a few minutes to get used to it again but once I do... They are incredibly comfortable and remain comfortable even after wearing them for 12+ hours a day as I do most things on the PC and at my PC most of the day, so I'm wearing the headphones more often than not. These are durable, powerful, and comfortable. The only drawback for me *personally* has less to do with the headphones and more with hardware/software of my PC which is I wish this came with an app that could read db output so I can be more conscious and careful of my hearing for it is more dangerous (for me). Thus it is more likely to cause damage for me as my starting volume is considerably higher by default due to hearing loss as the 70db range is what I need to hear well enough to follow along (I can *hear* the 60db range, but have severe trouble understanding as it's barely whisper level for me due to hearing). but that's really close to 80db range and I can easily cross over into that (and into the 90s) for long extended listening periods which can damage hearing if done for extended amounts of times. All in all, I highly recommend this product whether your hearing is normal or damaged. I have found no legitimate faults with this product. I would definitely purchase again in the future (doubly so if they create and include an app that can help keep track of db levels to add a layer of hearing protection much like apple does with their air pod ear buds and the hearing section of the health app). I would hope that if they do the app, it is free or at least cheap and affordable (like 5-10 USD at most and not something like 50-100 USD). To the person reading this: I hope this review from someone with hearing impairments was helpful in spite of the fact that I have severe hearing damage. Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a great day/night.
