The Seiko Men's Automatic Stainless Steel Watch boasts high-tech Japanese automatic movement hidden behind classic analog styling. Precise 21-jewel Japanese automatic movement keeps this watch functioning without a battery: It is powered automatically with the movement of your arm. This high-tech feature is tucked away behind the watch's textured blue dial, which boasts luminous silver-toned hands and baton hour markers. The dial also sports a date window at the three o'clock position, and the entire dial is protected by a mineral crystal. Keeping all of this securely on your wrist is a polished stainless steel link bracelet that closes with a fold-over double push-button safety clasp. Other features include a stainless steel case and water-resistance to 99 feet (30 meters).

Made me relive my childhood again
I've always had a thing for the Seiko 5 series. My dad used to wear (he still has them) two variants. I used to wear one of them when I was in school. I prefer automatics over quartz watches all the time, reasons for which, I don't really know. I was looking for automatic watches recently as my older watch got tons of scratches and looked ghastly. First off, many automatics were immediately ruled out because of the price. The lower priced ones all had some or other horrible element in the design that steered me away. I took a look at Seiko's website too. I would have bought one of the models there if only Seiko had a buying option in their website. That same model in all other sites was way too overpriced. Then, this model popped up and the look of the dial in itself was such a stunner. The watch in itself satisfied all my design appeal requirements instantly. Sure, I plonked serious money into it but after receiving it, I did not regret the spending. The dial looks different in a good way in every angle. The luminescent material is bright enough (expected on new watches, but still really bright) The finish on the hands and hour markers are the best though. The texture on the dial makes the watch look a lot costlier than it actually is. To be fair, anyone could be duped into thinking this is a 25k+ watch if only the strap was not a metal folded type. The clasp seems solid and well made though. One other inconvenience is that I can't swap out the strap to replace it with my dad's old watch's strap. But then again, it's just a minor inconvenience, nothing more. The transparent window is nice to see the movement ticking away gracefully, although it will be of any use at all only if you take the watch off your hand and look underneath. The watch is seriously accurate as of now. Only time will tell how it fares in the long run but I know that Seikos don't wear down that quickly.Planning to have this for at least two decades. We'll see how that goes.
