N.America made quality without a data grab...Simply, Just works
works great just as advertised. The app gives enough data to be useful but isn't required for operation.I could see where wiring might be of concern for some, it's a matter of having a circuit avaible that will handle it, we had an exisiting 60amp ciruit that is no longer used for welder that this took the place of. Our PHEV won't accept the max charing so we turned it down to 16 amps output via the dip-switches. It's a fantastic addition over the 120v charger we were using previously. It now charges in a matter of a few hours rather than over night. We only bought this rather than a small 20-30 amp charger due to being mfg'd in North America and having growth capacity if we bought a dedicated EV. Currently own a '25 Kia Sorento PHEV hybrid and yes it's overkill but will grow going forward, isn't overly complicated, overly connected, etc. Would have rather bought a USA made unit but from months of efforts and comparison this was the only unit that checked the boxes and was about $300 cheaper than it's nearest competitor that was built in North or Central America. Thank you Canada for producing a reasonably simple charger that doesn't collect a rediculous amount of data, require an app to connect/charge at a reasonable price.

Very satisfied, but with one small caveat
I have an EV, not a plug-in hybrid. It came with a charging cable. I was thinking about just having a dedicated 240-volt outlet installed until I found out that I could only charge at a maximum of 40 amps (80% of a 50-amp circuit breaker max for an outlet) rather than my car’s maximum and fastest 48 amps. Plus, the electrician informed me about some outlet code requirements for GFCI, etc., so I decided on a charging station. I bought the Grizzl-E 48A Ultimate Level 2 EV Charger with J1772 connector for several reasons: 1) It charged the quickest at the maximum of 48 amps; 2) it’s made in Canada, not China; 3) it’s UL Certified; 4) it came with a heavy-duty 25 ft charging cable—long enough for my needs inside the garage; and 5) I liked the simple, but heavy-duty metal case—no bells and whistles. My car displays all the charging info I need and includes settable max charging limits and a scheduler/timer. The Grizzl-E does have a supporting phone app that I have installed. While it duplicates most of the things my car can do, it does allow me to enter the kwh cost of my electricity so I can track charging costs. A licensed electrician installed a 60-amp 240-volt breaker (80% of 60 amps equals 48 amps max) in my panel and hard-wired the charging station (cost around $500). WiFi setup of the charging station and connection to the app worked the first time and has been stable ever since installing two months ago. The charger works great, and it’s nice to fast charge my car to 90% in just a few hours. The only thing I don’t like is the included holder for the cable and J1772 charging handle. I think it’s sourced from a third party. Its plastic feels cheap and hinky compared to the charging station’s metal. Because of the angle at which it mounts to the wall, it’s hard to loop the cable around and insert the charging handle in the enclosure; plus, the charging handle doesn’t seem securely latched in place. Grizzl-E could do better with this.

Well made, hardwired, reasonable price, fast charging.
I bought this unit as we just purchased a plug-in hybrid Toyota RAV4 Prime. Our electrician recommended this unit, and mentioned other electricians he knows also endorse it. We wanted an option for faster charging. This is a hardwired unit, so the electrician ran conduit from the panel, into the attic, and across the house to the garage, and mounted the unit near where we park the car. The unit can be mounted just about anywhere, as the cable is 25ft. long, so can reach most areas of an average garage. The unit is very well-built, made in Canada. It looks great on the wall, and charges our car in approx. 2.5 hours.

Easy install. Great charger for EVs
Great charger. It is literally a box with an LED and a heavy wire with the plug on the end. It does come with a cable rack that has a plug holder in the middle. I mounted this unit in the garage and I hang the cable on the rack and just let the plug hang down. The plug mount is nice but it does cause the cable to stick out a bit, and I don’t have the room for it to be sticking out and me walking into it.The wiring is straight forward. There is no common wire with this unit - 2 load connects and a ground connect. I used a 60 amp breaker and 60 amp wire and used the white as the ground (colored the ends green with a marker for future reference ). Connecting the unit to WiFi is ok, not easy, but ok. I added a mesh system to the house and the WiFi changed, that was a bit more challenging to reset the WiFi on the charger (turn breaker off, flip dip switches, turn power back on, blah blah blah), but after reading and re-reading the instructions and Googling it a few times I finally got it reconnected. The WiFi is only needed if you want the app data on the charging. Honestly I never use the app. I get home plug the car in and unplug in the morning. It comes with a chart that explains the colors of the LED on the charger, so that is hanging next to the charger, not that I have needed it, but it may come in handy one day. Happy ChargingEnjoy

Nice case
Very heavy duty construction, but doesn't like talking to our BMW X5e when charging is finished and it generates and error message and annoying beep. Unplug the car and within a minute it will reset to normal; the car is charged and the charger is fine, but you can't leave the car plugged in overnight otherwise it will charge and then emit an error beeping all night long. The charger works fine on our BMW i3. Also, the internal relays are noisy and emit a heavy "clunk" when working, like they're going to eventually bust themselves.

Best Value Charger
Best charger on the market in my opinion. Very affordable. App is very easy to use. Cable is think and easy to handle. Electrician said it was very easy to wire.
