Kristy's Spring Cutting Garden: A Watercoloring Book (Kristy's Cutting Garden, 1)

I ordered this book and it arrived yesterday! Since then, I have ordered another🙂 Illustrations are breath taking! Beautifully designed watercolor book that folds out front and back, stuffed with information that you will enjoy and find encouraging🙂 I will use my KR ( Kristy Rice) brushes in these books in order to exercise my use of the dagger brushes! (Ordered the beautiful set) Fun learning curve for me. Kristy has filled such a need in my life. Her products just enhance my journey❤️ I’m going from palette to paper with my paints letting the colors mix on paper! (I’m a tight painter) this is also uncharted territory for me! YAY, I’m finding so much fun here! Who knows, I may even find myself painting out of the lines! 😉

The media could not be loaded.  This is such a beautiful book. It has tons of nice pictures to watercolor and the paper is nice and thick. It has some techniques that it gives in the front of the book to help you with your paintings and gives little explanations of the flowers that are illustrated. The paper is nice and thick and I don’t think there will be any issues of bleed throughs

I absolutely love this artist. Takes so much pride in her books. The quality the book itself is of the best quality plus she gives tips, e.g. and a list of supplies we all can afford as well as how to. She is my 1st watercolor book suggested by Henny DeSnoo who tests these products for a living and I owe it all to her.

I received the first book earlier this week and was very impressed with it but not so much with this one. It is disappointing that there is so much of a difference. There was not the second page for using to practice on. The paper appears to be the same. The drawing are very large. I was hoping to use them on handmade cards but there is only a couple of pages that can be used.

I am so pleased w/ this book. The designs vary enough that I never got bored. Having each design one-sided ensured there'd be no interference from a previous painting, and the fold-over cover flaps keep any color from going from one to another. Love it!

6/18: I wanted to revise my review a little bit, although I still feel like the quality of the paper is ok, I do really like the illustrations in this book! They are really beautiful. And my skills with watercolor has improved over time since I first got this so I feel like I know more about how to handle the paper, And what to do/not to do, to get it to not peel and rip up. So I really enjoy this book now a days. I added a new pic as well Bc I was really thrilled in how it came out.Og post: I love Kristy rices books but this one just didn't have the same quality paper that her other books had. I'm disappointed. In just one layer of color the paper is rolling and peeling. It can't hold water at all. The paper is more like cardstock then watercolor paper.

I love this book. The quality of the paper is good. I find it doesn't work really well with very wet washes. But, I love painting watercolor in them. Once you use them for awhile, you learn their limitations, and work within them. Great place to play and practice.

Gorgeous illustration with high quality paper. Perfect water coloring book. Lined up with watercoloring tips at the beginning of the book and Kathy's YT video tutorials, this coloring book has given me a great starting point and learning tool as I've taken a journey into the watercoloring world.

Ich habe jetzt die erste Seite ausgemalt und mir die anderen angesehen und bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Buch.Die Illustrationen gefallen mir sehr gut und sie laden dazu ein, Kristy's sehr lockeren und leichten Aquarellstil auszuprobieren, was der Grund für meinen Kauf war. Das Papier ist dick genug und imitiert die Oberfläche von Hot Pressed Aquarellpapier, es enthält aber keine Baumwolle und wenn man viel Wasser verwendet wird es sich auf jeden Fall wellen, was sich aber kompensieren lässt, da man die Seiten herausnehmen und spannen könnte. Wer gerne in vielen Schichten oder mit sehr viel Wasser arbeitet, wird hiermit eher nicht glücklich, für mich ist es eine super Möglichkeit, den klassischen, leichten Aquarellstil zu üben. :)

Got the first book by Kristy, and love this one just as much!

Fantastic book, Kristy has helpful tips on the inside of the covers and in the cutting garden series the tips are all different. There are really helpful videos on YouTube done by Kristy to get you started and truly enjoy painting for joys sake. I was nervous and thought myself no good at watercolour until these books. I now find myself painting daily and truly enjoying the process.
